I tested these caps for both capacitance and ESR this weekend. I charged the cap to 10V and discharged it through a 22K ohm resistor down to 2V while keeping time (took about 3 1/2 min). Got 12,200 uF, close enough. I also checked ESR, .01-.015 @ 2KHz, quite good. I must say, excellent value if the voltage rating checks out.

I'm going to "re-form" these, prior to installing, at the rated voltage of 63V. Has anyone done this, or otherwise taken the caps to the upper limits of voltage with no ill effect?

I finally got around to reforming these caps. You can see my setup in the picture. I charged up these caps gradually to 60V over a period of 3 hours. I then tested again for esr and capacitance. The caps held up well without getting warm. They are definitely as rated. ESR at 2KHz measured in at .01ohm, just as prior to charging. These are very nicely spec'ed caps!

a lot of pm in my inbox asking about these elna 12000
they are still available but the price increase @ us$ 6 now
we try the caps and got the same sound as before
these price increase from our supplier
