Looks like that's the route I'll take.Or get a cheap Marantz or Philips cd player of *bay with the TDA 1541 chip.
Plenty of them around and you have the waranty that they are original ones.
Ric
Have two marantz at home, cd-50 and cd-60(undergoing modifications), I'll see if I can bring my self to cannibalize the cd-50. Otherwise I'll get a few other players using thoose IC's.
Got the Squeezebox today
Also I traded some pio caps and a tripath amp for two marantz cd-75 mkII.
One of which will be donating the TDA1541A and SAA7220P/B for this dac-project.
He also said he'd throw in some suitable tubes in case I want to use a tube output on the dac or one of the cd-players.

Not mine, but mine is identical.
Actually sounds better than I thought without external DAC.
An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

C1, C2, C3, C4 Nichicon Audio Gold 5600uF
Can I use Nichicon 10000uF/63V KG(M) gold tune here?
Got 4 of these laying around.
C19 470pF
This is the DEM cap, I guess I'm better of using 122pf 1% Silver mica that'll result in a lock?
C73, C74 WIMA/Solen 10uF
Here I could use 3% 10uF axial MKP's right?
Also I want to put in better diodes.
I was thinking about BYV27-200, BYV95A or are there better options?
I've used MUR860 in the past, but they are very expensive, except from hongkong/china and those are marked U860, not MUR860.
D1, D2, D3, D4, D5, D6, D7, D8, D9, D10, D11, D12 Diode 6A10

This is the Analog Metrics PCB? If so it has a design flaw in that the replay clock (an XTAL OSC module) isn't locked to the SPDIF input resulting in skipped or duplicated samples every so often. Worth knowing that I feel before you begin to troubleshoot any clicks or glitches you encounter
Will this be fixed by advanced DEM re-clocking? Pics borrowed from Andrew, though I am responsible for whited out areas.
...answered on other thread....yes ?
You got too many projects going on at once !!
Guess what ?....so do I !!
I'm also working on a valve buffered Gainclone...another Alpha CD Player complete rebuild and......another Alpha 5.
My psychiatrist thinks it's good for me.......( that's a joke btw )
Haven't seen him for years

Could I use this for the 20-0-20Vac?
You could - it would work. But the available current is way beyond what's called for. As a result of being over-sized for the job its going to be rather prone to mains-borne interference.
