Had wondered yesterday, if any of Burkhard's circuitry could be used to lower the output impedance of Scott's part one microphone amplifier.
Actually, wonder if this modification shown below would work with Scott's phase splitter.
(Just anxious now that I have parts and needing to wait for the next issue.)

I don't see how that lowers source Z- it's still dominated by 1/gm. I could see how even the slightest drift will latch up the circuit...

I think you would have a hell of a job to match the bias current on each side.

The upper half of that has an undefined voltage due to, in the end, two current sources pointing at each other.
Better. You could also run the outputs of the phase splitter to the inputs of an instrumentation amp or other diff amp that presents an equal load to both polarities.
This is better. I may play with the values and try.
Look forward to volume three.
.
That looks better. Watch out for the very different DC bias points top and bottom it will limit the output swing a lot. AC coupling can be used, remember the input bias R for the FET's can be huge like 22Meg so good film caps are not as expensive.

Just purchased the latest edition. The website seems to have forgotten me, claims it has never heard of my email address. Must be someone else who bought the first two for me!

Something administrative: somebody asked me about a PCB for Bob's Distortion Magnifier, described in Linear Audio Volume 0. Unfortunately, I lost that message and don't remember the sender's name.
If you are that person please contact me.

Got my copy of no#2 in the mail today! Illustrations ar much better now.
The article about ultra lineair tube amplification looks insightful.
Thanks,

Jan, the articles Cyril Bateman links to in his letter give a 404 error on your homepage.
I also sent you an email.

Yes, it seems broken, thanks for the heads-up, I'll get my webperson to fix it.
I will answer your other mail today.

JD: Perhaps Vol 3 will have an article entitled "The care and feeding of my HP3577"? I thought you sold it.
Yes I sold it; my linearaudio.nl website is dire in need of an update! No time!

Come and chat with me!
Just an update to my whereabouts this fall (2011):
First I'll go to Burning Amp festival in San Fransisco, that'll be on 1 Oct.
Then two weeks later I'll be at the Rocky Mountain Audio Fest in Denver, starting Friday 14 till Sunday 16 Oct.
I'll share a booth with Bob Cordell in the main lobby.
Then it's off to NY for the 131st Convention of the AES. Starting Friday 21rd till Sunday 23 Oct. Again, I'm joining Bob Cordell at the McGrawHill booth # 755.
If you are in the area and have a chance to see us, please do come by and have a chat! Of course I'll have issues of Linear Audio for a discount, as well as a new publication still under wraps but it's about power amps. Or get Bob's book (RMAF and AES) signed by the man himself!
