I scored a ezdac(async) but its got coax in only. All my music is on my pc. My main pc is optical out, and my notebook doesnt have a digital out. All my past dacs have been usb only.
So what could i use to convert usb to coax? Can i just use any ebay $20 special or do i need something good?

The first one will give you only 16/44.1. The second will do somewhat better. For about ten bucks more, you can get a USB to spdif converter that will give you 24/96. That will cover most of the available software, but if you have any 24/192 files, you'll have to spend more. The Ebay cheapies work as well as anything else for the application. Pano and I have checked out several of these and only found one poor performer so far.
Not having much luck finding the 24/96 versions, Ya got a link? All i find is the maudio fast track pros for $50.
This is the one I'm using (price has gone up a bit since I bought it, but still pretty cheap):
USB Port Mini Converter SPDIF Coaxial Output DAC | eBay
They're sparse with the specs, but I routinely use it for 24/96.

Quite sure the PCM2906 it uses can't do 24/96.
Try outputting using KS to confirm.
Or, for Windows Vista and 7, check this screen for the available choices.

You're right wwenze, native PCM2906/2904 does perform max 48KHz/16bits :

miniSTREAMER from miniDSP supports 24/96 coax in and out..
I have one but I haven't used it beyond 16/48 myself yet though.
