I have just finished 1 of my two MK3 with Merrill DCA4 drivers. I am new to full range speakers and unsure of the obtainable bass levels. At the moment they sound clear and sharp on vocals and give a strong punch at highs.
I am happy with the result so far, my first speaker build so it is nice to hear the results.

Interesting... Whenever I get around to making headway on my dual EL70 "Castle" microtowers, I may order a second set of 930SFs and try them as well, just for shirts and giggles. I have a pair of the 930SFs in Minimus 7 cabinets and like them VERY much. But as for 3 vs 12 Ohm speakers...

Coley, did you play around with the stuffing below the driver yet? If you have some there, take it out and see how it sounds. Adjust to your liking. I have no stuffing in mine with the TB W4-930.
I only have stuffing behind the internal baffle pretty much as the damping plan looks. I have none in front on the internal baffle. could you explain more on what should i expect from changing the stuffing around. (more, less, none, in front of baffle, behind.)??
Thanks!!!
Thanks!!!
Are the T/S parameters of Holey Baskets suited to the FH3?
If not, how far outside the bracket of the group of proven-suited drivers are they? i.e. are they worth a shot at all? Has anyone tried them in a FH3?
cheers
Doug

It seems like the small holes in the basket would restrict airflow. Wouldn't this hamper bass output?
Maybe he's referring to these...
Thanks kec.
You're spot on. 🙂
Sony/Coral Fe103A variants.

Nice Thorn. I was going to use laminate (Formica) too. Most likely black, although I can't make up my mind. There are many colors to choose from.
Interesting question: is it possible this kind of Fostex FE167E speaker cabinet, the dimensions are increased proportionately? I have such a speaker, but failed to build a good cabinet
Love the laminate.
No, it would need a new design. As noted above, there will be a new box for the 6 1/2in Fostex, but don't hold your breath.

If I'm not talking out of place, Scott would likely be awaiting opportunity to see field test data the new WK series before modeling any new enclosures, but even then it (revised Fostex designs) wouldn't be a top priority.
If you already have the FE167E on hand, there are already some well proven enclosure designs from the drawing boards of Scott, Dave and Bob Brines. Of those, I've only heard one design.

Don's & Scott's Brine's ML-TL, Demetri, & Fonken167?
I know that both you & i like the F167 to the point that the other's fade into memory...

I know that the FE167E is a very good speaker, and bass can be good for a closet. I tried BR, Horn, TQWT system, but I did not like. Therefore, I am curious about a new solution.
can not sleep because of the beautifully about the FE126E speaker cabinet Frugelhorn Mk3! Before I heard this too many boxes.
