Hlly Tamp-90 Ta2022 Chip "a True Pearl"

I have one of the shure tripath amps. I think its the 50w into 8 ohms version.

I find the sound very fast, and initially detailed and a nice warm midrange, but I cant listen to it very long. It sounds "unnatural" to me. In the end it gives me a headache, I find it reminiscent of bad CD players - some people refer to it as "digititus" and I find the same sort of sound with the sure amp.
Is the HLLY amp any different?

Has anyone tried the HLLY preamp yet? Is the volume control chip any good as a pre amp?

thanks

"It's a piece of ****" How true!

I had Hlly 90. It's a piece of ****. Very dull sound. No detail, no speed.

Even stock Shure is another league. After basic modifications it is mindblowing.

Could not have put it better my self, I have several Topping Amps based on TA2020 and TA2024,Trends 10.1, Helder TA2020 MKIII and the Hlly.
IMHO the TA2020 from Arjen Helder is the best, followed by the TA2020 based topping then the Trends and TA2024 based Toppings and a long long way behind them all is the HLLY. if you want more volume from a T amp do not make the same mistake as me, spend your money on speakers with a higher sensitivity and avoid the HLLY.

I bought the Tamp-300.
It arrived damaged and not working. 🙁
The packing was poor. The headphone jack on the back was obliterated in shipping.
The display doesn't work and there is no sound.

I emailed Hlly and they have not responded for three days now.😡

I would never buy anything from Hlly again.

I've been listening to my latest generation HLLY T-Amp 90 for the past three days now and I must say that it is phenomenal. I have had TA2024 based T-Amps and the HLLY T-Amp 90 is a much better amplifier for less sensitive speakers and demanding music. There is simply more headroom and authority with the T-Amp 90 compared to the lower power T-Amps available. There have been complaints about the first generation models being noisy...In fairness, I can hear some hiss if I put my ears directly up to the tweeters, but from my listening seat, or when music is playing I can't hear any hiss. With that said, the T-Amp 90 is not as quiet as the other 12 volt T-amps, but it is no more noisy than any other amp I've used. The build quality is good, and the amp feels nice and solid...all in all, I am very happy with this amp.

is this the same?
