Pretty naive DIY auto mechanic, if the blocks the car's on are made of concrete.
If the sun weren't shining, it could be anywhere in Appalachia USASudden disappearance ...any DIY audio people in this neighbourhood ? 😀
Russellc, where did you get the knobs for your B1?
Mouser, or digikey, I think both carried them.

I got them from mouser, and I believe this is the number, just make sure it fits your pot's shaft. I used the PEC pots. The number is:450-3000 (Mouser)

I'm using PEC too. I spent $17 on 1 knob from Partsconnexion. It was used too; knicked up and didn't fit the PEC either. Not too happy about that Mr Part Connexion!

Hi cka3o4nuk,
Very nice realization. The amplifier might sound very sweet with this fine wood box?

Dear mister Pass is this messenge addressed to me?
The start of a new Aleph4.
Spent so far, £50.00, with a further £50 on self built PCBs.
Who says you cant build one of these on a shoestring.
Total cost is estimated at about £400.00

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

yes, most certainly

and we want another picture when you receive it 😉
£400 is a bit unfair - That is how much I am spending on NEW components. The heatsinks were second hand from E-Bay (£25 the lot), I already had one 500VA toroid, so I've only had to obtain one - again second hand from E-Bay (99p). I also have 12 x 100000uF 75V Caps so I've got the expensive bits. 50 x IRFP244s were £25 and 6 x IRF9610s in three matched pairs were £8 from Bulgaria. Not shown in the photo is the aluminium subframe which cost £100. All the bits for the main PCBs were from RS.
I'm hoping to get most of it finished in the next four weeks. I'll keep a photo record and display my results in the fullness of time.
