I'm assuming you aren't running the amplifier with the balanced inputs?
I've had trouble with buzzes when it isn't running balanced.
No, I'm not using the balanced inputs but it's the mains transformer that hums mechanically. There is no hum from the speakers. 🙂

Ahhh, that makes sense now.
I don't have a fix for that, other than a new transformer.
I've been kicking around the idea of putting a toroidal transformer and more capacitors in mine, but I haven't had the time.

Well please do update this thread if you ever get around to it. This big hunk of metal is just sitting under my desk and that just ain't right.
Well, apart from the buzzing, there's another issue with mine. Sometimes the power button won't 'latch' on. It sometimes won't switch off either and it occasionally trips the RCD!!
The screws are all rounded but I'll get the lid off soon and see what's inside. I'm hoping it's just the octal relay that I've seen in someone else's pics somewhere.
All the best,
Martin 🙂

I know that some of the early models didn't have a soft start circuit, or a very effective one. This naturally lead to the switch problems you are talking about.
IIRC there is a fix for that problems from MIJ. But, I'm not 100% sure.
Hi, Maybe a schematic could help a bit.
It's too big to attach so ask for it.
Only logo is attached.
Send me your email address.

if it works.
Just mail me...
I don't have the 20036 schematic, I have a 20035 schematic...
I I'm going to have to email you for the other copy.

Is the 20035 an earlier version of the amp?

That's what I am guessing... But, don't know...
Joetama,
Sorry, that's one that I do not have.
As you know I have some HH schematics but not all.
If it's available some where by some one that is willing to send it, pls do.
Cheers,
Tarzan

Not just Laney schematics but also diagrams for other brands they own. See the appropriate link.

Perhaps even the K4000 from Harrison? Unfortunately the URL is death.
Redarded other not available schematics from HH/Harrison there are
also this threads:

for Harrison's K4000 I have get a hand sketched schematic from a Dutch technican and I have translate it in "circuitmaker" (unfortunately with a lot of errors cause not so good resolution) for better understanding the theory of operation (see pdf attachement there).
Laney have just announced in the MI Pro on line mag that they are reincarnating the H&h brand and it will be distributed by Headstock distribution

Sometimes the power button won't 'latch' on. It sometimes won't switch off either and it occasionally trips the RCD!
The V800 has a high inrush, they sometimes weld the switch on or trip MCBs in a domestic environment. The softstart was a relay under the chassis that shorted out a resistor as soon as the tx secondary came up...this sometimes happened very quickly. The relay contacts can weld in or burn.
You can change the pushbutton mains switch for an Arcolectric high-inrush rocker.

A better solution will be an useful inrush current limiting circuit. Check out therefore this thread:
