Has anyone got links to a project/product that uses this insane driver? in the blurb it claims "Perfectly at home in new or refurbished horn loaded sub bass systems" however the only info I can find from google searches are people who tried large closed boxes in simulation. The Fs of 30Hz seems an indicator to me that it's not suited for low bass in closed boxes. I am very curious as to the size of a horn using such a large driver, as my own designs using the 12" pd are quite large already!

Pro drivers are not usually suitable for sealed boxes.
Large drivers are not required for horns,unless you have a horn the size of a shipping container. See the labhorn (2x12")

All you are looking at, its hurting your back and getting drs bills. Instead look at smaller multiples.

Read the article about the ‘24" ultra sub 'Wheelie bins’:

/..The 'wheelie bins' have a flat frequency response down to 40 Hz and worked superbly with the huge double 24" bass monster "National Thunder" - so called because it was designed for the National Theatre to play epic organ frequencies and thunder type sound effects - but the practicalities of transporting a bass bin that fills a van on its own meant another option had to be found.

The 24" Wheelie Sub.

The two single 24" ultra sub 'Wheelie bins', to replace 'National Thunder III' surprise everone who listens to them.

You would expect a flappy sort of sound, but actually these sound just as tight and precise as the wheelie bins and the opus 218's, but with an added couple of octaves on the bottom - flat to 25 Hz, and still plenty of 'experience' at 15 Hz.

Also, there is none of the pain sometimes experienced by many other bass bins at these frequencies & volumes.

So they are just flat to 25 Hz and provide ‘experience’ down to 15 Hz.

I decided to design a ‘home’ 439L T-TQWT with derated max input power as this incredible driver has only (unsurpassed?) 1% 2nd and 3rd harmonic distortion and very little power compression, IMO = benign if played below 100W and the possible passband SQ would peak.

The T-TQWT has now an f-3dB at ~17 Hz and is excursion safe at 1 Hz; a sub amp may be used with no input HP filter at all, if one dares.😀

So... I just went and ordered two of these drivers. Maybe I'll have to be the guinea pig here. 😎

I guess they will be arriving in 5-6 weeks.

I've got calibrated measuring equipment and simulation software, so hopefully I'll be back with some interresting data.

Can someone help me wih dimensions on an enclosure based on Bjorno's simulation on the previous page?

I have 2 PD2450 comming my way, and will first try them in a SLOB, but would also like to try them for something quite different, i.e. a horn.
