I've seen all of these recommended before as medium power devices for VAS and drivers.
MJE15034/MJE15035 - TO220
MJE340/MJE350 - TO126
2sa1560/2sc3423 - TO126
2sa1837/2sc4793 -TO220
2sa1930/2sc5171 - TO220
KSA1142/KSC2682 - TO126
2SA1381/2SC3503 (KSA1381/KSC3503) - TO126
MJE15034/MJE15035 - TO220
MJE340/MJE350 - TO126

KSA1142/KSC2682 - TO126
2SA1381/2SC3503 (KSA1381/KSC3503) - TO126
So, you used 2N3904/6 (extracted data from your zip).
Yep. This is a low power application, and so isn't exactly a hard load to drive. I thought the post was asking about driver topologies, not types. As for what to use for more output, that would depend...
KSA1220 / SC2690A
2SB649 / 2SD669
Both very fast pairs.
What about mosfets to drive (several) bipolar pairs?
VAS and Driver requirements are quite different........ recommended .......... as medium power devices for VAS and drivers.

Wat are 2sa1930/2sc5171 Diver or VAS😕
The datasheet says "driver stage amplifier applications".
Post your favourites 🙂
MJL/W 3281/1302.
C5200/A1943.
MJE15034/35 are *predrivers*.🙂 You did say "favorite", didn't you?
BCP56/BCP53 for npn/pnp Vas.
no, they are both drivers.MJE15034/35 are *predrivers*
Although both could be used as output devices.
The BCP will limit supply voltage to <=80V (=+-40Vdc).
VAS and Driver requirements are quite different.

Right, I could have organised the list differently. It was more to get the numbers out there; people still need to look through the datasheets and compare specs to decide which to use where. Toshiba, Sanyo, and now Fairchild have a multitude of useful devices for amp stages but finding them amongst all their other devices is a pain unless you already have a list of part #'s to start with. And it all depends on application, anyway.
Thanks for pointing that out.
no, they are both drivers.
Not necessarily in amplifiers with many hundreds of watts or even kilowatts of output power. I have seen a lot of amplifiers with MJE150** devices as predrivers while a pair of 2SC5200/A1943 or similar is used as drivers for a whole forest of output devices.
This is the kind of stuff I know wg_ski likes to build. 🙂
MJE340/350 good high voltage transistors.
Can take quite a bit of power especially if heatsinked.
