Nice preamp 845! Where do you find those chassis?

Any schematic of your preamp? Looks interesting!

I designed this chassis, and ordered it from local craftsman

This is my 6DT5 Single ended triode amp.

Power transformers - recovered from halogen lights

Output transformers and choke - recovered from Fluorescent lights (heaters and switch start ballast)

Caps from disposable camera

Chassis - Roasting tray $7

Valve sockets $15

Knob, neon and speaker terminals $10

All other parts were given to me.

Total cost about $30 Australian dollars

Sounds fantastic!

Its only 2W a side, so still need to find some pretty efficient speakers, if any one could point me in the right direction.

I havnt done any serious testing on it other than a listening test, and to me it sounds fantastic. Even with the transformers as Stalker pointed out, arnt ideal. But the bass response is surprisingly good. Plus they were free....

Beautiful execution.

How does it sound?
Thanks!

I'm loving it that all i can say i dont really know all the AUDIOPHILE terminology but ill give it my best. Bass is verry good compare to my Rh84 verry powerfull with the LED bias i notice more gain and good notes seperation crisp and clear verry powerfull.
let just say im very excited especially going from the el84.

What speakers are you using with it?

Am alternating between a Vandersteen 1, Coral full range and a diy speaker with vintage sansui alnico woofer and a ribbon driver for mids and highs on my amp (same circuit as yours).

You can also try using plate choke on the 6n1p, you will be amazed with the improvements. 😉

Speakers are oringinal 60's Heresy.
I also do use plate choke for the 6n1p 5h@270r.

This is my Tubelab Simple SE, with separate PSU.

Last picture shows the three amps I built:

Simple SE
Abdellah
TubelabSE

They all share the same amp, with a little trick.
