Hi,
do not know if you can open it.
If you have problems, choose the frontpanel express location (I think there is one in Germany and one in the US) and I can send my file to them.
You can send them either the frontpanel from the casing you have ordered, or they make you one from scratch.
It is easier to send them the original panel, otherwise you have them drill the mounting/handle holes for the frontpanel to the case.

I have finally got round to building my player.
I have been testing various cdrom drives the best one i found to be a phillips. Started almost instantly switched tracks fast and sound quality was very good.
The only problem is it seems to be unpredictable, I turned the player off last night after having it playing most of the day and this morning when i turned it on, it does not detect a cd in the drive?
I thought it could be a voltage problem but i am supplying slightly over 5 and 12 volts. Any ideas?

cd text readout? and display?
Has anyone thought about what it would take to read the cd text and display it?
On that note, what would it take to change the display text? I presume this is in the ROM someplace...

Changing the display text is easy. Just replace the lineswhich contain the display text in the program to what you like. Keep in mind that the lines need to keep the same amount of characters.
Reading cd text would be a lot heavier is assume. Therefor you have to program the cd-text conversion protocol yourself. It might be done already, but I haven´t seen it before. Feel free to try 😀

I am using a 12volt 30VA transformer that produces only 1.25a and a 6volt 30VA that produces 2.5a. Could this be my problem? do i need larger trannies? e.g. 75VA.
Help with Cable?
I've finally got my box built for a portable player using this controller kit, and it's all going great, but for one critical detail.
I need a cable so I can have the display and controller in different parts of the box. I've ruined (I think) one of the display boards, as it takes a lot of heat to get that 16-pin connector desoldered from the boards, and those poor little pads just can't take the stress. I may be able to save it, but I don't know.
Does anyone know where one could obtain a single row, 16 conductor M to F 2.54 mm pitch 8" (or so) ribbon cable assembly? This is for sure not a common item, and I can't find one either from Digi-Key or through an Internet search. If I needed a thousand of them, I am sure someone would be able to make them up for me. My backup plan is to buy the headers from Digi-Key and just solder up my own connector, but I'd rather source a cable ready to go for various reasons.
This has come up before with no resolution. Let me know if anyone has a source.

That's a very nice enclosure. Do you have pics of the built of it?
