What's your take on the synthetic rubber micro-coupler and ozone in this case?
Not optimistic. If it were $100, I'd take a flyer. Are you sure you know how to design an instrumentation amp? 😀
Because I have to pay rent and alimony this month.
Alimony in Texas? I thought that we did not have such a thing here. Or do they call it "spousal support"?

I'm sorry, I never pictured you as a paycheck-to-paycheck kind of guy.
John

We do and they do. "Divorce" is apparently the Latin word for "extracting one's testicles through one's wallet."
Why? Because I light my cigars with hundred dollar bills?
No, I thought of you as a kind of plastic cork baron.
John
Wow, I seems to be actual NOS not used I'm actually seriously interested. What's your take on the synthetic rubber micro-coupler and ozone in this case?
These NOS samples appear to be well protected from the atmosphere, at least three layers of coverage.
John
Ex-baron. These days, I'm saving the world from the ravages of endocrine disruptors.
Any chance of resurrecting DDT and PCBs?
John
In retrospect, DDT isn't so bad. Hmmm, does this mean I'm not getting a Nobel this year?
Problem with the cartridge sealing is that most plastic films are very permeable to gases. They'll slow down the process, but will it be enough to preserve Tutankhamen's cartridge? I hope so- if Scott has a good experience, I'll sell my son into slavery and pop for another one from that seller.

When all is said and done, I don't think I would risk more than $150-200 on one this old. They are again available I noticed at >$7000. Which brings up the question of why there are not more? I mean no RIAA, no $300 teflon caps, etc. I suspect there is something that only a "big" guy can take on after all the engineering of tiny things has made huge advances (GE makes semicon strain guages by the millions).
$70 USD for shipping a stylus. Insult, meet injury:
I would have guessed more for Oops Expedited. That auction price makes a SoundSmith replacement look like a real bargain.
Jeff
I've removed posts violating the No Politics rules.
It was science and history, not politics.

Your son is safe, he isn't even replying to sub $400 offers.
UPS to Canada
is a major PITA. About $50 of that charge is UPS' "brokerage fee", essentially a flat $50 fee "included" in the cost.
A better option is USPS (United States Postal Service), insured. Often under USD $10 for a small package. Ask the vendor if he'll send that way.

The UPS issues were well behind those of dropping $500 on a stylus with a 20 year old suspension. Madness.
