Hey thanks!
I understand what you mean about it being a computer case. I want to completely enclose the tubes so I picked up two different thrift store receivers, each of which were too short. I needed to try one of those '100+ disk changer' cases to get one tall enough to fit everything inside. Not happy about spending more money, I considered trying something similar to the second post on the tubelab picture thread. Again, my cases were too short, and offered no protection for the tubes (or for the fingers/paws that might try to touch them). My computer case was 'wide' enough that I could lay it on it's side, fit everything in, and still close it up. Some strategically placed wood would then-hopefully-misdirect anyone who might be inclined to thing it was, in fact, a computer case. Once I drilled out all the rivets and started rebuliding, this is just how it came together. It is conveniently (very nearly anyway) the same size as my bookshelf speakers it will be powering. Considering my space constraints, this is really the only design that would allow me to place the amp in my front room where it can be enjoyed. Had I thought far enough ahead, and considered where I would place a full size amp at my house, I likely would not have started the project!Posted 29th July 2010 at 08:03 PM by stripe157
