I returned to DIY electronics in 2009 after a 20 year pause by building a few kits to get in shape. This blog is for me to keep track of my progress.
Fostex BK-20
Having built a few amplifiers, I wanted to build a pair of speakers and settled on Fostex BK-20 kits from Madisound with Fostex FE-206E 8" full range drivers. I've always considered carpentry not my cup of tea, so gluing, sanding, and painting the speakers took longer than expected. However, I am very satisfied with the sound.

So, 2-1/2 years later do you still like them? I am thinking of building a pair myself.

Thanks - I had been thinking about the BK-16 or BK-20, but was concerned about dynamics and bass in the BK-16. I was looking at that amp as well a couple of years ago, and now that I'm getting a BLH, it looks like a good option. Which power transformer did you receive? I understand that a couple of different models were supplied, depending on the distributor.

I got my kit from tubedepot.com, and, as far as I remember, it included an R-core power transformer with a single 115 or 120V primary.
