OK I need some more volunteers. Volunteers arrive about 8:00 to 8:30 AM because this year I cleverly got one room early so we can stage there. And human nature being what it is, I wouldn't be surprised if the janitor just opens all the rooms.
If you arrive late you might be replaced.

If you arrive on time you get to help carry about 70 moving blankets around and set up about 80 tables and 200 chairs! Also help divide the equipment among the various rooms. Also follow me around a lot putting out metaphorical and real fires. Sometimes amps always the BBQ.

Some will be assigned to rooms later. I hope to have 2 per room so one can organize changes to the systems on each end then swap back and forth. Also that way one person can leave for a while. Something that is desirable is the ability to organize a room and have the gumption to suggest to a person that maybe it's time to let someone else demo something. In other words keep things being swapped in and out of systems and alternating between ends of the room.

In exchange you get to strut around in this years "Staff" T-shirt- priceless!!

So send me a PM if you might qualify

Mark

FS: ATI 1807 amps, Thor subs and crossovers

I have a couple items for sale, and I'd be happy to bring them to Burning Amp if anyone wants them. Mark -- if you don't want forsale notices on this thread, just let me know, and I'll delete this post (thanks!).

Two ATI 1807 amps, $1000 each
  • Excellent condition, built in 2007
  • Original owner
  • I'm using 1802's, because 1807's are heavy!

  • Dayton binding posts and plates (you know, the good ones)
Two Thor/Orion Crossovers, $750 each

There isn't any issue. I talked to the Ft Mason guy today and he's working so that's already proof they aren't like the rest of the feds, and he confirmed the rooms.

It's a self-supporting entity is the difference I believe. They don't get direct government support and must survive on the rents and other income from their assets. That's why they aren't closed, and why we pay $2500 for the rooms!

I'll contact him tomorrow to make sure there isn't the teensiest weensiest chance of a shutdown.

Hmmmm pretty weak not to bring the Audio Artistry speakers.
I know they're big, but I don't see any speakers coming that will take advantage of your amps and such. And I REALLY want to hear them again!!!
and they look so Coooool! We need more people to see them!

I will bring the following:

- laptop computer source, lots of FLAC files including hi-res
- γ2 DAC
- σ10 preamp
- β24 power amp

I most likely won't be bringing speakers, so someone with speakers could partner up with me. The β24 is a big powerful MOSFET amp so take that into consideration with speaker pairings.

So look at the schedule and start complainin'

If you're listed with a complete system in a room (one of the systems on each end) you're responsible for bringing interconnects and cables so that your system will actually work. Also Sources. You're going to look silly without anything to play.

Of course people will bring stuff to swap in to your system but don't count on a source, cables or preamp if you need one.

Smyth Realiser A8

SY and I have just mastered the basic process of setting up that Realiser A8. The effects are really, really spectacular!
My initial plan was to just let people listen and then go in and out of processing bypass to show the effect.

But I can also go through the setup (about 20 mins) with a few people and then these people have their own personalized ear responses included and that’s very good for the result! But for that I need a stereo amp with a pair of speakers to use for the setup at my table in the Big Room.

Anybody has a pair of decent speakers and/or a power amp for that purpose?

Jan

PS See here for a description of what the A8 does.
