Hello, check out http://www.nelsenadelard.com/ and see Nelsen's website. I have engineered, mixed and co-produced 3 records with Nelsen and being a veteran, I have learned not to overcompress, overEQ, etc etc. Hope you like the music and comments are welcome at richmix@erols.com

Here is a recommandation for you Blues lovers:

From Georgia, those guys are just great, and I have had the pleasure of seing them live 2 weeks ago, the first time they visit Denmark.
The best Blues act in a long time. They have a distinct Northern Missippi Hill influence that shines through now and then. You can hear traces from Junior Kimbrough and the like. Stunning music, indeed. I had a little chat with the band after the concert, and actually they did seem a little surprised about the crowd going totally nuts during some of the songs. Very nice guys, indeed.
Luckily, they will be back next year.

Blues has so many sub-categories that it is tough to nail down the word blues itself.

(This is a copy of my post in the audiophile recordings thread; sorry if someone has already made refs to the Music Maker relief foundation and sorry for my emphasis on the sound quality; I do like their production for the music also, of course):
"For those who like blues:
I can recommend to have a look at the production of the Music Maker relief foundation.
I bought a very nice compilation titled "The last and Lost blues survivors", distributed under the label Dixiefrog, dated 2005.
There are a number of *very* well recorded songs. See for instance on CD1 "Waiter" by Captain Luke and Cool John: one voice, one guitar (what a voice and what a guitar!).
Most soundtakes were made in the MM studio and they sound very natural, lots of space between the musicians, excellent bandwidth, punchy bass, clean voice etc. (only the stereo image is at times somewhat funny, but very nice). On CD1, see the bassline on track 6, foottaps on track 18. Pura Fé's well-known song " Wait 'till you come back again" is on track 7, and Sol's punchy modernised "Black Mattie" on track 11; both were recorded at MM studios...
Gret job and a nice tribute to many elderly musicians. The records can be purchased directly from the Musicmaker.org website at good prices (and people would do a good action); sadly, shipping costs to my country are more expensive than the CDs themselves." END QUOTE

Jean Luc Ponty
Just decided to look up Jean Luc Ponty after many years, and found a live DVD that came out in 1999: "Jean Luc Ponty in Concert". Check out tracks 8 and 9, amazing! We listened to these cuts often in college.

Forgot to mention, it is a DVD and it sounds bass heavy, do other people notice this? I've not listened to it on my main rig yet so ....

What you are hearing is the undistorted or less distorted bass and better separation between instruments of DVD discs ... DVD videos are 24 bit / 48k and DVD-Audio are usually recorded at 24 bit / 128k to 384k >>> expanding the head room considerably and the accompanying expansion of the bass region. (Also modern CDs get compressed [usually] to 16 bit / 44k or 48k and the result is that the higher frequencies cover up and wash out much of the bass. ... see the signature below and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/24_bit_audio )

How about some Australian blues? The Backsliders!
You Three - Backsliders
Driven forth by the rampaging right foot of Midnight Oil's brilliant Rob Hirst:
Drum Solo - Rob Hirst and the Backsliders
Great stuff, I love it. If you're into blues-rock, then their sister band, Angry Tradesmen, is also fantastic:
Big Wave - Angry Tradesmen
Oh, and, while this link will probably go dead in the future, check out the full version of their song Yeah Right:

Heaven done called another Blues stringer back home...Bluesman David 'Honeyboy' Edwards dead at 96 - MSN Music News
Muddy Waters - Saw him at the Keystone in Palo Alto just before he died. Bored one Sunday evening in Silicon Valley. Driving past Marquee I see "Tonight Only Muddy Waters"... Yeah, I can do that! also caught Garcia & Buddy Miles there.
Also saw Norton Buffalo there (spent a lot of time at the Keystone), my favorite harp player. Later (in Salt Lake City) got him to sign both albums I had of his.
Saw Taj in Salt Lake, partied with him. Signed my Old Folks back home album. He married some gal from Momma Eddies Right On Beanery.
Saw Elvin Bishop, Edgar Winters, Leon Russle and Lydia Pense on same bill for $4.50 at some bar in Sunnyvale. Lydia never made it to stage as she got a little tipsy.
Tried time and again to catch Tom Rush live. Just missed him every time.
Big Mamma Thornton, Cannonball Aderly and Joni Mitchel at UofU union ballroom for $0.50. (Separate venues)
BB King at Paul Misson winery.
Joplin and Airplane on double bill at Terrace ballroom in SLC, Later Airplane and Cold Blood same place.
Stevie Ray Vaughan was a god... Was dead before I discovered him.
Favorite Stormy Monday; Lee Michaels.
Just reminicing.

Ooh, nice! Thanks for the link. (That guitarist with her looks like a young Tommy Chong)
This is the Lee Michaels link: Lee Michaels - Stormy Monday - YouTube
(unfortunately a bad digitize... when will people learn that digital has NO headroom at all. To get a good digitize set levels to -10 db.)

Yes, wish the quality was better on these. This one seems to be half decent sound quality wise. Eva's voice is amazing as always:
Eva Cassidy - Chain Of Fools - YouTube
Makes me want to look into digital restoration for much of her work. I wonder if there are high quality masters somewhere for her work.
