NONSENSE?
Hi,
Move closer to the speakers another foot and you may hear it.
Joel,
Coming from someone listening to older types of tubes you surprise me.
And since when did you lay claims to this thread anyway?
Compulsive deafness or what is it?
Cheers,
Hi,
Frank, start a new thread please if you want to talk about that nonsense

The title is "Tentative EL84 Design". What does your cockeyed view on shiny plates have to do with that?
Besides, plates are "shiny" or black, etc, based on heat dissipation requirements. A black plate will dissipate more heat. That's why heasinks are often painted or anodized black. Old battery tubes with low heat all use shiny plates.

Ah, I'd forgotten thoseOld battery tubes with low heat all use shiny plates.
I can remember (though nothing to do with the thread):
DF91
DAF91
DL91
Can't remember the frequency changer....
GET OUT OF THERE...
Hi,
Other then sounding better there is none.
Goldfish!
Cheers,
Hi,
I still don't see the advantage of graphite for a low dissapation valve.

MEASUREMENTS
Hi,
Any NY ears perhaps?
Hi,
What is the measurement unit for this "sounding better"
Any NY ears perhaps?
SO??
Hi,
And what are they there for?
Cheers,
Hi,
But to the best of my memory, they all have getters
And what are they there for?
Cheers,
Frank, that comes as no surprise. But what does, is your shilly-shallying around the pointNo surprise here...seen more valves then I care for
Why keep a dog and bark yourself...
=
Why have getters for gas absorbtion, when you've got a graphite anode.
Frank, I have some new Raytheon 5755's with black plates. Should I paint them graphite now ?
Are you serious about the colour of plates being responsible for the soundquality ? Please give some explanation for the not-knowing like me. I have heard these reports before but there were always some contradictionary examples that messed up the assumption.
Please be quiet about me having tubes otherwise my credibility in the Digital section will vanish

Ah, but are they graphite or nickel?
I HAVE'N T SEEN A THING...
Hi,
Lucky you.
Paint them black?Only if you're a "Stones" fan.
High time I show them a trick or two....then again they never listen anyway...
Sure they do,getters have more than just one function, right John?
Enjoy the back plates,
