can't we simply use BC560 and BC550 for everything?
It's been answered in "Less simple...." threads Bricolo.
The ones used are much better, especially "E" versions.

J-P,
I had even saw that the input stage of a MM phono amp sch use a 2N3055(or equal )worked in low idle current(maybe 100uA) on our country audio magazine.
Your idea maybe very good!
comments please...
Hey Guys,

People also said to use BIG tubes in small preamps like 211 and that they worked like anything....
well I would rather stick to subs I would have for day or two...
daniel
p.s. but I would also like to know how it would work with bc's - it would be more easier to find them here.

Those Toshiba transistors would cost me 2€ each! And they are sold by bag of 4 pieces...
A BC550/560 costs 0.08€
Are they SO much better?

Where did you find them - which supplier ?
Bricolo,
I could tell You how 2SA970 and 2SC2240 sound against BC's when I build my Jocko's I/V and this one in this thread but unfortunately I'm little to short with time so You must wait (I'm working like lately and don't have much time to experiment - my girlfriends amp is waiting also..). So if You have time........ I will let You know
regards
daniel
Also - try to put some inductors in series with passive i/v resistors. Should work very nice- didn't try it but would in a day or two- I will get some small inductors tomorrow to try them

I have some time.
The DAC itself isn't done (I haven't found suitable caps for the 1541 yet)
And if the toshibas are so much better, I'll have to redesign the pcb if the pinout isn't the same.
BTW, do someone have a direct url to the datasheets? The toshiba's website is such a mess. And the not-so-good-working-on-my-computer java interface doesn't help
