Hi,

I just sent a payment to Brian today for 1 set of boards.

I live in the UK though and was just wondering about the shipping cost, I was automatically charged $6 on the boards price. I think that this is the cost for american residents and not for shipping to the UK? If the price is higher I can despatch it by paypal to Brian's account.

Also is there a parts list yet?

I have looked thru some of this page and have not seen it. Though the thread is now very long.......

I had a quick glance at the aleph 3 and 30 schematics, and though the parts are there a list would be nice, perhaps I missed something, please forgive my ignorance????

I have the White Noise Audio regulated power supplies using darlington mosfets, should be adequate to supply around 2amps continuous at around 25v.

This will be my fisrt aleph amp, I have built a mosfet amp before, and it sounds quite good, but I'd like to try something that uses a simpler circuit and hopefully a lot less feedback.....

Thanks

I set the price the same for both the US and International orders.

As for the parts list, I posted a excel sheet earlier here:
http://chipamp.com/diyaudio/miniALEPH-parts_list.xls
I will put it on my webpage soon. I am finishing up an excel sheet for the power supply board now.

I will be posting more information on the webpage in the next week.

Hi Brian,

Thanks for the info and links,

So this parts list is all I would need to run the basic version of this amp without the extra devices?

With just the normal setup should the rail voltage be kept at 15v?

Thanks
Raja

The parts list has a page for the mini Aleph (no output boards used) and the Aleph 30 (output boards used with 3 devices per board).

The power supply for the mini Aleph should be between 15v-20v.

I also put the excel sheet for the power supply parts on the webpage, on the PS product page.

Hi Brian.

I would like to hear if you have received my email regarding if it's possible to order both Aleph boards and LM4780 boards at the same time?

Thanks
Martin

Yes, this is possible. I will reply to your e-mail in a bit.

Reminder to all:
The payment deadline for the PCB order is this Thursday, March 31st. For people in the US, I can accept payment via money order (drop me an e-mail for details). Order page:

Hi Brian,

Great website for ordering the PCB's!!!!!

Could we order the mini-Aleph parts kits in the same manner?

Well done,

Thanks for the complement!

I will keep the website updated with content for this project. With regard to the component kits, this is entirely out of my hands, and Jason is handling the whole thing.

17 people have paid thus far, totalling up to 31 amp boards and 36 power supply boards.

Now up to 22 people who placed orders for 39 amp boards and 44 ps boards. I hope this doubles, and I will put the order for 100 boards.

Order deadline:
Thursday, March 31st

A power supply board prototype have been ordered and Mark should receive them it on Thursday and provide some feedback.

If the power supply board prototype will not be received until the intended close off of Thursday, there will be no time for testing. Should close be deferred?

The group buy on the PSU parts – I suggest for shipping weight – cost, and flexibility,
it be everything but the trannies. What do you think?

Cheers

The PS boards shouldn't have any problems, but I figured that it wouldn't be a problem getting a prototype made first to verify that all of the hole sizes look good. I have looked over the design many times, and the layout is quite similar to my other ps layouts, which work fine.

Also, I changed the power supply diodes from MUR860, to a higher current handling MUR2020, in the power supply parts list.

Hey Brian-

What was the make/model/part# of the Thermistor you were going to use on the pwr supply board?

There are no thermistors used on the power supply board, as I decided to not include the AC input board. You could use a thermistor for the resistor in the CRC power supply board.

The part that Pass Labs use in their amps is CL60, which is sold by Mouser. Digikey has an equivilant part, but I don't have the part number on hand currently.

Rgr that, I think I said "were going to use" and had the past tense meaning only my FAR Southern edumacation got in the way... :D

Mouser... I spent all morning running every filter on Digi-Key...

Trying to find one with a primary voltage rating with sufficient current capability was not happening.

I will research his part.

I am sorry, I parsed your message quickly and missed ther "were going to use" syntax.

As for the part on the AC input, Nelson uses the CL60 in the service manuals for the Aleph amps, so I assume that this part will work.

Here is the CL60 datasheet:
http://www.thermometrics.com/assets/images/cl.pdf
The digikey part number is KC006L-ND

As for the primary voltage rating, it looks fine for the implementation like I had it on the AC input board (same as Aleph service manuals).

As for using them in the CRC filter, I recall that the early Aleph-X pictures had them used:
http://www.briangt.com/gallery/passlabs-xa
I think that this was later changed, as the matching on the devices wasn't very close. (not entirely sure if this is the case, maybe Nelson can provide some input)

Alright, here are the current totals for order submitted thus far:

Current order totals
68 amp boards
80 power supply boards

Payment deadline
March 31st 2005 (this thursday)

Order website
http://www.chipamp.com/order

I have received several requests for combining the shipping of gainclone boards from my anniversary sale:
http://www.chipamp.com/specials.shtml
This is possible, and I can ship the gainclone boards with no extra shipping charges. Drop me a mail about this, and I will handle it.
