I assumed that Fix was just looking to verify that the circuit was assembled correctly and not planning to use the cube long term or for anything resembling serious listening.
At 2.6 A he's probably already on the verge of the current limiter kicking in, if not started down that slope. That won't help the sound quality.

that might be why the sinewave sounds/measures clean. Sub watt output with zero transients using up that little overhead.BobEllis said:At 2.6 A he's probably already on the verge of the current limiter kicking in, if not started down that slope. That won't help the sound quality.
Thanks for all posts, I'm pretty sure that my powercube is the problem...
Yes just run the powercube to Test the amp, but I thought I could test the amp more serious with it.
I do have 2x 1000va trafos at 41V @ 12amp
I'm about to the the amp for real with trafo + caps and recifiers.
just ready with the powersupply...
Will post pictures soon...

Another night...
Atlast, first channel is up and running 100% with powersupply.
And it's working, and right now I play music from my Laptop...
625mv att emitter
57.5vdc at rails
~50* C with fan at fullspeed (if my tool is working...)
After about 2h of running...
Powersupply...
Photo before I start it up... (just incase of smoke...)
Now we are running...

Hi,
Klone up and running.
Well done.
Let the fuse blowing begin, if your's follows the same behaviour as mine did.
BTW,
can you see now why I have to repeatedly remind builders that fixed current limits in regulated supplies will almost certainly impact on the correct operation of power amplifiers?
They need enormous current to do their job well. Most builders don't realise this.

Thanks Andrew...
Fuse... For the moment I don't have it fused...
Guess that's stupid, but I'll add it later...
Yes this Krell Klone is needed BIG trafos with lots of current...
I have a powermeter that I can plug into the wall and read how much Amp and Watt it draws from the mains..
220AC, 300W, 1.36Amp @ one channel.
2.5 Amp + ~600W /hour for listen to good music..
My mainfuse in the house is at 10Amp (for the walloutlets)

DIY-KIT HEATSINKS
I've calculated and started a thread over at Hififorum
All further talk about the Heatsink DIY-KIT will continue there.

Been busy at work and other IRL stuff.
Will update the Heatsink page soon.
Anyway...
Time for some new pictures..
Just started with the cables...
Atlast...
My PCB cards came today from China.
The SoftStart and Output DC Sence card.
Hopefully my new design in Eagle will work....
I've ordered 10x SoftStart and 20x Output DC Sence pcb cards.
If they work as they should they will be for sale, or included in the heatsink kits.
One picture show the Test PCB that I've made first.
That worked...
Also the new design is much smaller and doubleside.

K-Amp
Have you guys seen the K-Amp?
K-Amp E-Bay Auction
they say its like the KSA 100.
I see it uses the wrong transistors (it uses the very nice Sankens) but i'm not sure how similar the schematic is. What do you think?

DIY-Heatsink page updated with new prices.
Also included Softstart & DC Sence PCB's.

For all of you who follow this project...
PSU / Softstart Done and Tested OK.
If lucky it's soon time to test the amplifier...
Hopefully it will sound good too, else lots of hours and $$$ is wasted....
RC Filter Resistor + Cap
220v side
Softstart
After a long evening, PSU and Softstart works...

Re: K-Amp
Can one trademark one's DIYAUDIO ID?.... Guess it won't matter... I guess the K stands for knock-off...
