Hi all, was trying to find another JVC EZ31 for a second Shigaclone project but sadly they are no longer available here. Anybody has any luck with other boombox with the same chipset/mechanism? I look around for those models listed in the earlier post but those are not to be found too.
Hi All,
I read somewhere, perhaps not in this thread, that you can find on ebay the CD head assemby, without the pcb, for less than €5.
Does anybody have a link? I want to get a spare.
Alternatively the manufacturer and part n° so I can search arround myself.
Thanks
Hi Tony.
I think this is the one: SF-P101N CD Mechanism SFP101 16 Pins Sanyo Philips Alba on eBay (end time 16-Nov-09 22:18:39 GMT)
Remember to remove the protective solder link before use.

I've one laser unit to sell.
I've sent a message to you. Reply if you're interested in.
UPDATE
I'm sorry, but I need to decline my offer. I've just taken a look at postal service tariff and it's uncompetitive for shipping this packet to France. Take it from gazglasgow on eBay (as I did). I suggest to take a spare 16pin KSS213 strip as well.

Many thanks to Henjo Edel who gave me the Farnell reference (1079973) and the Molex catalogue link

The correct definition for this kind of cable is FFC (Flat Flex Cable).
The item is 1.00mm pitch, 18 contacts, 152.0mm lenght

the ez51 might be easier
ist there the same CD-drive built in? I'm new in this thread and I want to have a shigaclone. I have heard, that this drive is not so good as those in the EZ 31?!
I think, it would be as good as my gainclone and my VSPS from RJM and fits to my equipment.

Hello Jonners,
Could you please confirm if this is the mechanism used in the EZ31/51?
Thanks much!

Confirmed!
Thank you! I will possibly post my other stupid questions after I finish reading this entire thread!
Use of SMPS
I have had a couple of these SMPS's lying around for some time and would like to try them while trying to find a suitable EI transformer.
Would they plug directly into Peter's arrangement as shown?

Super. My last two questions:
Never say last!
Super. My last two questions: Do you have a description how to connect the wire to the PCB? Is there an instruction to remove the drive from EZ 51? The DAC I'll use is one from Peter Daniel.
The pdf somewhere near the start of this thread shows the digital out connection. I don't think there are any instructions on removing the drive.
