I read somewhere, perhaps not in this thread, that you can find on ebay the CD head assemby, without the pcb, for less than €5.

Does anybody have a link? I want to get a spare.

Alternatively the manufacturer and part n° so I can search arround myself.

Hi all, was trying to find another JVC EZ31 for a second Shigaclone project but sadly they are no longer available here. Anybody has any luck with other boombox with the same chipset/mechanism? I look around for those models listed in the earlier post but those are not to be found too.

Remember to remove the protective solder link before use.

I'm sorry, but I need to decline my offer. I've just taken a look at postal service tariff and it's uncompetitive for shipping this packet to France. Take it from gazglasgow on eBay (as I did). I suggest to take a spare 16pin KSS213 strip as well.

The correct definition for this kind of cable is FFC (Flat Flex Cable).

The item is 1.00mm pitch, 18 contacts, 152.0mm lenght

ist there the same CD-drive built in? I'm new in this thread and I want to have a shigaclone. I have heard, that this drive is not so good as those in the EZ 31?!

I think, it would be as good as my gainclone and my VSPS from RJM and fits to my equipment.

And the electronic part? What can I use? The digital output for using with BNC -plug from the EZ 31 Boom-Box is what I prefer.

All you need to begin with is an EZ31 or 51. Nothing else. I started with everything still in its (boom)box, and I just took a digital output from the circuit board.

Use of SMPS

I have had a couple of these SMPS's lying around for some time and would like to try them while trying to find a suitable EI transformer.

Would they plug directly into Peter's arrangement as shown?

The pdf somewhere near the start of this thread shows the digital out connection. I don't think there are any instructions on removing the drive.
