In your sim what was the series impedace to the gate of the JFET? Of course there are always questions relating to the models. The quick way to check would be to use a 10K or 100K resistor in series on your physical sample. Exploring distortions at these very low levels is interesting but probably irrelelvant to any sonic perception.
