RA, I have a feeling that there is more to it than just supplying a voltage. Certainly an LC filter is going to 'infect' the rest of the amp to a far lesser extent due to the comparatively constant DC draw from the power Iron. Beyond that how well that voltage is isolated is also likely to be important.
I have found no need for anything but AC, but then again I run entirely PP amps. The cathodes on one pair of DH monoblocks draw 7.5A, and they continue to glow for a substantial period of time after shutting them off.
