...... works fine
Im sure it does
common pratice
but now that I have tried it myself, I know its just not good enough
but no surprice really
it simply doesnt correlate with any speaker theory, in general
this time I want to do it properly
Jbl speakers , that was a great sound but .............
yeah, JBL are relatively short Xmax woofers
hell, I was close to buying a 1watt guitar amp
didnt happen tho
but almost any woofer would survive that
Im looking at the new ferrite woofers from faitalpro
and they have the 6" as well
Beyma has 6" PA midranges as well.
yeah, 6MI90 might be close to what Im looking fore, namely max efficiency above 2khz

a good speaker still needs amplification
and hey, what can be better than a good handbuilt SS hifi 'monster'
bloddy expencive if you want to buy a good solid state bass guitar amp
but this an old friend of mine
and then theres the tricky preamp thing
tried a combo, which wasnt exactly love at first sight
so here is what I will give a try

this looks like a good candidate for high sensivity woofer for a home project , with subs , and carbon cone

so far, amp combination works
or should I say makes sound, with some noise
maybe its the low impedance load of receiver
power amp, 2kohm input
still some work to do
have the preamp(stereo) designed to drive this particular power amp
may need to drive through this
well, sound have definately improved, and got cleaner
but its very clear now that the horn I built is 'difficult'
its doing something right, but still a too 'ressonant'

and with the proper preamp, able to drive a 2kohm load, what a change
suddenly my woofer isnt so bad at all
clean clean clean
noise is gone, nada
and BASS in spades, DEEEEP bass
wow, huge difference, really
special case with this power amp
dont know how it is with other amps
but still worth a thought
not cool to think I was going to trash the woofer, and throw midbass horn in the dumpster, built with sweat
and now I hear the coolest bass ever
how lucky can one be
now I hear a song in my head...long and winding road

Before the "right" pre-amp sorted the bass problem, how did you connect up the amp to it's source?
What were the impedances?
What DC blocking was inserted?
What RF filters were inserted?
What cable did you use?
How long was it?
How much capacitance did it present to the source?
Telling us it didn't work tells us next to nothing.

why dont you go for a 5 string (better for slaping )? that will be my next purchase , maybe a ibanez.
I would like a short scale 6-string but doubt there are any
but I know what you are saying
and Im aware that I might need to mount better pickups
tuners are probably crap too
feels like they are 'letting go'
what´s the power of your amp ?
about 120-150watt, with double pair Sanken
