So they cover the top of the capacitor to If you take a look my last picture in my previous post you can see the lettering, also made in Japan, and many other problem. I open the package and right away I saw it is fake.
Japan would not let that junk into the market.
I think is better to buy from good source industrial type which we know they perform OK than buy these junk just because named Elna for Audio.

Peculiar, first you write that his allegations of fake components must be false because the ebay seller that sold them is a 'top rated seller' (lol) and then you act like it's no big deal to buy branded components and receive fakes.

Its hard and weighs about 150grams

I've seen cases where a marked high-voltage cap of significant capacitance was really a smaller cap (lower capacitance) of a lower voltage rating inside of a bigger can. I'm amazed that it actually makes sense to manufacture these fake units.
Buy through an authorized distributor to minimize the risk of fakes.

I just ordered 8PC Cornell Dubilier capacitors from US
With shipping cost and tax it cost almost as much than 8 PC Elna For Audio at least I know these are not fake. Made in USA and purchased from US.
These seller offered me good price on the caps and he claim it is originally ordered from Elna supplier from China but I can not trust in that.

Sounds like the same seller that sold me some 2SJ77/2SK214 FETs, not only were they not lateral FETS but vertical ones, worse than that, the drain and source were as per vertical FETs which means any one using them as drop on replacement without testing would be likely to be treated to a bit of smoke.

Hi all! I've read a lot about this fake elna problem, almost bought a double-price made in thailand from aliexpress, when this came in front: ELNA 10000uF 80V "For Audio" LAO Series
Might it be true? If yes, how can we now decide which is fake and which is genuine?

Haha... In earlier posts was written for the fake Elnas that they must be some Nichicon or other similar quality. In this view they are really as good.

i would like to comment here regarding the ELNA caps . The High capacity elna Capacitors are no longer produced in Thailand . These are made in China by Jianghai Capacitor and these carry a Circled J logo instead of the Encircled S logo that was on Thailand production. The Sword mark is under the Top black cap on the 80v and 100v Series
These are fresh stocks and not old , the Thailand ones are Old and i suppose Mouser will soon switch to these as the Old stock is almost gone

I lookd very long to ebay and other sellers and finally i bought my caps on mouser .at.
yes the transport fee is large - 25 euro min.
but plan your list very good and maybe ask friends or plan more projects then the delivery cost are acceptable!!...and you dont get fake caps or other components and maybe stop other fake sellers business
personally i really accept that delivery fee to avoid fake products !!!
