The relay listed in the BoM, G5LA-14-CF-DC24 seems to be discontinued soon and is out of stock in many locations, what is a suitable replacement?
Nobody has seemed to answer this question, but I would like to know as well
Wiring another transformer to soft start
Hi All, Advice on auxilliary transformer - I am going to use the soft start and speakers protector boards for my Honey badger project but the transformers i am using to power the amp do not have lower voltage secondary, so can just I attach another transformer (12v) to the output of the soft start this was just to power the speaker protector board.

It is better to connect the auxiliary transformer before the soft start and after it's own fuse. The main transformer fuse and the plug top fuse are far too big to protect the user from damage, if the auxiliary transformer fails. A 500mA fuse allows small auxiliary transformers up to a total 40VA to start without blowing that fuse.
The reason being that the auxiliary will output a low voltage while the soft start is not bypassed and this may affect the operation of the auxiliary circuits during the start up phase.

so this is my as-built soft-start circuit, i used 12 volt relays, Zener diodes and for C3, i used 4700uf/25 volt cap...i also added a CM choke and X2 caps...

1) C3 could have a better polarity marking. There is the circle and square, but I had to go back to the schematic to be certain. A plus sign would have removed any worry.
I'm assuming from the v2 schematic that the square pads are positive, correct?
Hello,
Anybody know if the relay in the bom can be switched for this? Mouser no: 653-G5LE-14-DC24
G5LE-14-DC24 Omron Electronics | Mouser
Thank`s for any info.

Yes. The "653" prefix is Mouser's number before the Omron part number. It's the correct part.
Newbie Soft-Start question.
I'll be bi-amping with my two First Watt F4 amps. Can a pair of these boards New Soft Start & Speaker Turn-On Delay and DC Protector Boards (Set of 2 boards) - Power Supplies and Accessories - Circuit Boards
and my system work just as well with the boards installed external to the
F4 amps?

one can usually hear the delayed click of the bypass relay pulling in.
If you increase the delay, the difference in time from switching ON to Click will be more obvious.
A soft start only needs a few cycles of the mains frequency to get the transformer core in sync with the mains current. Maybe less than 50ms, but we see a recommended 100ms to 300ms as a suitable bypass delay.
