got a question for you about caps. I just got 4 100,000 50volt caps spec at 6,5 miliohm at 120hz they measure at 23 miliohm at 100k hz does that sound in a good range ? the two best day in a boat owners life is second when you buy it and first when you sell it been there done that.

That is what my Lisa said also. Renting is better than buying for occasional use. Same with horses.

... the others keep it up, move it and do all the work and heavy lifting. I just go for the ride and fishing. It wouldnt be 1/10th as much fun if I had to do everything myself.

Lisa took courses in sailing and spent a month on a large private sailing vessel going around all the Hawaiian islands; just sizzling in the sun, smoking dope, getting drunk and having lots of sex, swimming and fishing and what ever else one can think to do for a month on a sailing boat. Guess it must be like the feeling you get when riding your motor cycle.

Richard,
Your right. I help a friend with his sailboat and believe me he pays me well for that but it seems there is always something else to fix or maintain. I have to go to the top of his main mast, 36' up from the deck to fix his tri-light, a bird broke it off the very top and snapped the bolts. A fun fix hanging almost 4 stories in the air! Drill and tap new mounting holes. You better really like a boat to own one.

yes... under 50 milli Ohm is a good number for the entire audio range.

However, the wiring distribution from Cap to Amp will dominate unless you take special precautions. Most likely, you will still need to have some distributed C right at the OPS.

Kindhornman,
No, you have to love sailing to own one. :)
If someone buys the boat only because he can, then, no doubt, some day he will be the luckiest person on earth to get rid of it .
As to the old saying, that you quoted, well, it is not always true, because there are boats and then there are BOATS.

Btw., that saying could be applied to the 'not so high-end' electronics or cables too.

The cap 3 inches from the pcb of an (diyaudio Pass) f4 once it up I take some more measurements . Thanks that what I had gotten from your posts. The bus bar between the caps will be .125 copper plate . Thanks for the input. :D

electroj,
I can assure you my friend loves his sailboat. I think he would much rather be on the water than most places just on land. He can just decide to go anywhere in the world whenever he decides he wants to take off. It is looking more inviting all the time. His boat cost about $160.000 and that was ten years ago. He said he is always spending money on something new like the radar he was talking about a few days ago. As long as you can fish you can go where you want. The boat makes fresh water so you don't need much more than that. A nice breeze is always welcome.

Details, details, does it really matter?

ofttimes yes -

Ticknpop, that lady must be an option. I had the speakers, but she didn't come with them.

Marketingwise, it is pretty stupid. These things look like heaters anyways, so to reinforce that in this way is not the brightest idea.

Btw, the Quads are a nice speaker, but no keepers. Not enough SPL, sweet spot as large as a dime, didn't like the way they rendered a stereo image. Perhaps the newer ESL's are better. Of course I listened to them (but not in my own environment), but wasn't convinced.
