It's really hard to have an opinion - delete comments or not? It's always nice to get a pat on the shoulder if I have made something that caught someone's eye.
On the other hand, if I am interested in a certain design, I rather do a search for an amplifier with a certain tube.

Well, enuff said. I am not finished with this - still have to add the PSU without shorting it too much.
Based much on Röhrentechnik's (Audioröhrentechnik Ausgangstrafo Übertrager Bandfilter Spulen Röhren Audio Fassungen 516201 516228 516236 516260 516686 NF-Übertrager Drossel Trafo Hifi Highend) Kolibri using 5902 submin tubes as power tubes resulting in some many 3/4W. This is a rebuild of an older one with 100V distribution transformers nut now using dedicated transformers from German company Röhrentechnik.

Power switch is very tight so I wait to push it in place until all is installed.

Very funny ... NOT

I had no clue how to mount the tubes in my first amp, so I drilled a hole slightly smaller that the tube dia in a piece of old PCB and had the tube to rest agaist the board.
An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

That process wasn't easy and the tubes came a bit off axis. When I started the amp a new I glued the tubes with a glue gun hoping that would make them sit tighter and also add some insulation where needed and ... of course the tubes tilted yet more.

As I also wrote in the text that went with the pics, the subassy isn't in place yet, so the tubes looks more tilted than they really are.

The original (with the not-so-good trannies):

My experiments with 2 great tubes.....UL SE 6CH6 and UL SE 30П1С /30P1S/ - Russian. PS for both amps - in box on left. Transformer is for AC 30V for heating 30P1S. Amps are acc. my schematics in my head. If someone interest, I will draw on the paper and post.
1. Small tube with big sound 6CH6 Brimar-England /or EL821/, Uplate 170V, Ugrid 2.2 v!!
Prestage E80CC Valvo. Very very deep and incredible sound from it small size.

2. Old rare Russian tube - IMO the best tetrode that Russia ever made, metal base from 50-s. Amazing and great sound, resembles 300B /output power about 2 W/.
Uplate 140V, Iplate 55ma, pretube PCC88. Sound like big fall deep wave.

I advice You to found these tubes and hear theirs great unforgettable sound.

Hi All;

Here are a few pictures of my Aikido Pre Amp. This project took about a year from start to finish. I built this as dual-mono and dual chassis. The basic configuration are 9-pin Dual-Mono PCBs using 6CG7’s that are powered by a pair of PS-1 power supply boards using SumR transformers. Some of the parts upgrades include Takman resistors, Clarity and Mundorf caps, Goldpoint switching and volume pot and Vampire RCA’s. I used Front Panel Express for the front and rear panels. This project exceeded all of my expectations (which were high to begin with). First and foremost, there is absolutely no background noise, its dead quiet and with only about 5 hours play time on it, the sound quality is excellent and improves with each hour of use.

The various picture threads on the forum are intended primarily as a showcase for your diy efforts, something we all like and enjoy to see.

If a particular project draws lots of interest, and lots being well above and beyond the usual normal comments that follow on, then please at least consider starting a separate thread in the appropriate forum to discuss the details at length. You can of course link such a thread to the pictures thread as well.

The aim is to keep these threads primarily pictures related and any subsequent discussion to be on topic to those pictures.

Enjoy :)

Please give definitive examples of:
1. "well above and beyond"
2. "usual normal comments"

With this information, a baseline can be established in order to make sure that the lines of moderator censorship are not crossed.

OK

And there are no hard and fast rules here but in principle it means don't wander to far of the topic of the picture being discussed. For example.

That's a great amp Fred, but is the grounding correct around the mains switch. The wires look wrong in the picture. Fred answers, and everyones happy. Except Harry chimes in and says, but xyz says that doing it that way causes this issue, and then the picture thread derails into a technical discussion on the general merits of grounding and different approaches....... time to take the discussion away from this thread and start a new topic.

Where did you get the front panel LED's Fred, they are great. Fred answers... and that's fine.

Pete says, nah, you should have used a PIC and VFD display, like this ebay one... everyone thinks the ebay one is great and starts debating the merits of it... not fine.

I agree with the role of moderation, moderation anyway, I could forgive the redundancy in repeating the definition that could be necessary so that the topics do not leave the thread at all and this is clearly shared by the team.
But moderation is not foolproof, moderation is conducted by human beings who are fallible. In the particular case of moderation of this thread may have been wrong on ways to prosecute the subject surely gone thread. Eventually and thankfully the thread returned to the good of the community. I appreciate the reaction of the group in general and me once again being supported by a large forum composed of people with good sense and open mind.

well, there is only one photo gallery thread in tube amp forum

and there are hundreds of other threads for all the other stuff

so I really do not understand the need to high jack this thread and burry the photos in crap
personally I don't give a ...., or care, and gave up on picture threads a long time ago

but basicly you are just doing it to yourself

(just now reminded I actually joined the forum to be able to see all the tube amp pictures) :clown:
