Its been a while since I've been able to do any work and finally was able to get over to my parent's where my dad has a table saw. We got all the boards cut except the braces and got one of the cabinets mostly glued up. Just have the cleats and the back left. Gonna get the other all glued up tomorrow so hopefully can get these at least making sound before the weekend is over. Here's a couple pics at least of the progress

Zia,
I'm planning on doing the braces but want to get it up and running first before I do those. Since this is my first FR system I don't want to spend tons of time on the "finishing touches" if I'm possibly not going to like them. I hate to sound negative but coming from pretty high end multi-driver systems I'm still a bit cautious. I only have room for one system so I need to make sure I really like them before I spend a ton of time doing all those finishing touches. Given what I've heard so far I am really going to like them so I doubt it'll be an issue
Keep yours going, you'll get them done!! Can't wait to see your pics too!!

One cabinet pretty much done. Started sanding and its SOLID and HEAVY! Wow, this sucker is really going to be very heavy when its done!! Going over to the rents tomorrow morning to glue up cabinet #2 and get the holes cut in the fronts of cabinet #1 and 2. Should be fun! We're also going to do a lot of sanding (wearing masks of course) so we're REALLY going to make a lot of dust!! Great start to a Saturday

Got the second cabinet all glued together and its drying now. The cleats are installed in the first cabinet and all of the corners have been routed and its all sanded ready for paint
This was my first time using a jasper jig for circle cutting and it worked PERFECTLY with my Bosch plunge router. Once we figured it out it made very quick work (and LOTS of dust) of the job. The driver fits absolutely perfect in it!
Here's a couple pictures of the work so far before routing.

And here's some after doing the round overs. Its starting to come together! The goal is for them to be making sound tomorrow They won't be painted but the stuffing will be in. This will give me the closest I'll be able to hear them before putting a ton more work into the bracing. The jasper jig will make very quick work of the bracing though.
I think the size of these are just about perfect for me. They could be a little bigger but overall I think they're a great size. They're going to look very good in my living room

I can vouch for that. I can't tell you how long my Lotus^2 pair sat unpainted.

Lol! Consider the warning VERY heeded Everything looking ok so far with regards to the build?
Great job!
Do you build bracing for your SuperPensil 12?
Thanks Tony!
I have not yet done the bracing but plan on it once I get an initial listen. I have never heard a single driver setup and have been building these on faith and hope so I want to make sure I like them before I go through all the work of building the bracing. We'll see tomorrow what my initial impression is

My Micro Towers are still very much unpainted... It's hard to get distracted when you start enjoying the music.
Great work Scott!

I luckily have a couple extra sets of speakers sitting around so once I get a feel for their sound I'll paint them Hopefully! LOL!
Thanks Zia!

Dave,
Is the rounding over corners in the case of Super Pensil 12 mainly a choice of aesthetics, or does it provide any acoustic benefits also e.g. like the chamfers on an Onken? I vaguely recall a thread recommending rounding over for other speakers too.
