I suscribed to Glass audio, Speaker builder, Sound Practices etc., and still have them. Sometimes it took 3 issues to get the bloopers out. I still see the same schematics on other sites with the mistakes not fixed. On the other hand I did build "70 watts of Mcintosh power" from the 1990 glass audio, and still use it. There were only 2 issues a year. One publication I also liked was Vacuum tube Valley, or something like that. Not sure if its still around though?

Russellc

Charlie of Vacuum Tube Valley went to the Great Gig in the Sky a while back. He was local and some of my buddies participated in the tube shootouts featured in the magazine.

Best,

Chris

p.s. That is an awesome list of writers for a first issue. Impressive and compelling. Speaking of magazines, I just bought some cheap magazine uprights from IKEA to help organize them and make them easier to sort through...

That looks like me.

I decided to by a copy of the magazine.
What the hell, I put an order in for my first text book on the subject, I thought I may as well put an order in for my first ever magazine purchase on the subject, espescially since it is produced by one of the members here.

Civilized world....and feeling bad

True.

How about hoppin over to the Folsom street fair in Frisco sunday the 26th, see if anyone there has one for a quick peek inside ?

(surely, one need not pack a compound bow to visit SF. :clown: )

Coolio, how does it sound ? i'm curious..

Just got my copy.

It sounds absolutely fantastic!

The nouns are rich and full without being too warm. It's well extended in both the verbs and adverbs. Conjunctions are silky smooth, much as you'd find in a tube SET amp.

If I had any nit to pick it would be that it's just a tad light in the preposition department, but then personally I prefer my prepositions a bit on the heavy side so this may not be a problem for most.

All in all I'd have to say it's worth every last word.

I recall Jan mentioning that he skipped ordering a transformer, but used his original Nemesis build.

The transformer for the Nemesis was sold at the shop of l'Audiophile in Paris, a Tango model, the factory in JP went bust a decade ago.
I can dig up the model number if you like. (you should have seen the Partridge stuff they carried)

Oh Yeah, the musical family that went on a global tour, got hooked on drugs and alcohol, and flushed down the sewer.
Shirley went to rehab, Keith lost his nose and became a convicted pedofiliac, Laurie ended up with a sect in Guyana.
(those episodes stayed on the shelf when the show was cancelled, afair)

Judging by the pictures of the Nemesis on Jan's home page, the transformer he used is not a Tango.
Looks more like a one-off, only Jantheman can tell.
A substitute for the JP original would be in the $300 to $400 each range. (original is an FG50S, replacement could be a 65 Ohm primary Sowter SE14)
