Need more bias

Hi everybody,
I still cant understand after read all this thread from begining may be because english is not my native language. if high bias is not always good for some amplifier why there is an A class amp ?
( as long as the surround material ( heatsink, PS etc ) can acomodate it.

Hi,
ClassA completely avoids the problem of crossover distortion due to keeping all the devices active for all output currents.

However some ClassA revert to high bias ClassAB when delivering current to lower value loads. The others simply go into overload.

ClassAB however, allows some of the devices to become inactive and lets the other half control the output current. This demands that the upper and lower halves have to hand over control to each other on every half cycle of the waveform. This handover causes crossover distortion and if the bias is incorrectly set the distortion becomes more audible than need be.

Hi,
full ClassA is nirvanna.
The downside is extra hardware cost and extra running cost. Some would add, extra environmental cost.

The vast majority use ClassAB and accept the extra distortion for the good value it offers for nearly as good performance.

Switching amps/PSUs are becoming much more popular due to weight and space saving and even further economy compared to ClassAB.
