I thought Sonys needed regulated power supplies Elwood625. But my experience is mostly with push pull version2
It's just a PI filter, in low pass configuration. I can't find a calculator to back-calculate the cutoff frequency. Is the power supply filter in the P channel VFET amp compatible with SMPS and linear supplies?
I have a lottery P channel and an N channel from a DIYStore kit, both had input filters for the SMPS supply, each was a different design. Always wondered if a linear supply could be used with these filters.
Sure - even in simple format LM350K / 3A. . I would expect.
Needed? Yes, my V-FET build was tested on an AudioPrecision gear and there was noise upward from 50kHz (noise -50dB there) even if I had a rather POi with handwound large choke and capacitor. (sure, that I just did something . . . well that's how it goes). My SMPS is a Meanwell brick, 40V/6A.
As stabiliser, I even have a double (each channel one) N-follower (3mA CCS-in to a darlington, stable to run hfe 1500 with a few volts; And then 4700uF) but residual noise is contamination from the earth I guess.
