Default Visaton-Monacor 2 way sealed simple loudspeaker build plans

Hi,

Considering how troubled times that we live in are now, I figured someone might want to build a 2 way loudspeaker on a budget of reasonable sound quality that I have done once for a friend of mine. I haven't got access to any measurements right now but I am confident everything is okay with it. It is a sealed cabinet, so it is supposed to be stuffed with polyfiber wadding to a reasonable extent. It was voiced by measurements and listening.

As far as I can remember, general specs would be something like:

Sensitivity: 84dB/2,83V/1m
Impedance: nominally 4 ohm (lower mids); 6 ohm (mid to hf)
Range: 60Hz(-3dB) to 20kHz(0db)

Very nice, Lojzek!

I hadn't really looked at that driver:
WS 17 E - 4 Ohm | Visaton

Easy enough to modify the default project in Boxsim:
Software | Visaton

It looks flatter than the more expensive W170S-4. Plays nicely on simple crossover. What's not to like at 25! A poor man's Peerless 830875.

Thank you Steve. It is a very decent driver for the money and I have much confidence in its build quality, one among few suited optimally to a sealed enclosure.

Could it be this woofer is not a Visaton original, but a somewhat modified & facelifted (originally) Czech made Tesla/ARN 5614?

Hi Lojzek, thank you for these plans. I am embarking on this project as my first build, given the drivers are available cheaply where I am.

I have a query re: the baffle construction - I note it is completely cut through by the woofer hole. Did you cut the hole after glueing the box?

You're welcome. Yes, I had to do so. This is because I glue panels starting with the one on the side. One side, front, back, top and bottom are finished at once and when it's dried, the other side. Fingers crossed!
