The veneer edge was more luck than anything. Plus, when oiled, they all matched up nicely.
Having built a lot of Tannoy and altec cabs...the Model 19 proved itself to have very deep bass. The first track from Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon is a good test. The windows were certainly rattling in concert with the heart-beat thump.
My current 2-way altecs have about 220 liters vs the 250 of the Model 19...so this extra volume counts a lot. See pic shown against new JBL 4345 I'm building.
