Open Baffle with Horn, PureAudioProject way

Dear Friends,

We at PureAudioProject are supporting and witnessing Open Baffle projects that are executed with great talent and attention by folks that are not necessarily members of this forum and some not even define themselves as DIYers. These are sometimes well experienced music and audio enthusiasts that are willing to explore new ground, take a different path, a side road, off the one paved by the high-end audio industry...

We feel that they deserve a fair representation of their projects here at DIYaudio and we'll gladly stand up to do that for them !
Please note that they might not be here to answer or discuss, but we will gladly take this role once needed...

The project we present here is by Karel from Belgium.
Karel is a great guy, well experienced and a veteran of the high-end audio business.
His project was an Open Baffle / Horn set 😎

Karel used our Tower15 Open Baffle HW Kit and Baffles (that he could also build himself🙄) and requested a duet configuration with custom cutouts for the Radian woofers. He then cut a simple 1cm wood plate that has the shape of our inner frame, placed it on the three wood feet at the top, and put the horn on it :scratch1: so clean and simple 😱

Here is a quote from Karel's concluding mail and photos he sent us of his project.

Quote from Karel's mail:
"...
Music friends,

So why do these frames sound better than pine or solid maple?

I am not sure you asked me or IG81 who referred to the metal frame, however, here is a feedback of an enthusiastic music and well experienced audio fan that took the first step towards DIY with the Open Baffle HW Kit (the frame). He is also not a member here so I simply quote his comments on the 'frame' and few additional upgrades that might be worth sharing...

quote (google translate from German): " Here's a new photo, I could not wait and have built the Feets still on Wednesday.
The result: Stunning! The sound has improved by 50%. The baffles are stable, all the screws are tightened, no more vibration, the radiation is now correct, more high and mids. I'm excited.
Learn more about this on the weekend
Kind regards, also to Hansi, he did a very good job!"
, end quote

and few weeks after:
quote: "You made me happy with your mails and I would like to inform you about the newest modifications I arranged to improve the sound more and more 🙂.
Step 1 - the New Frames made the Sound more brillant and more clear.
Step 2 - add of 'Sound Tuning chips' from Albat (picture) for more dynamic, less resonance and a clearer expression.
Step 3 - 'moongel' damper pads (for drums) instead of spikes undock the speaker from the floor. With an amzing result, which creates more volume and a very Fine High mid ton..."

The frames like these we see when looking at the old Klangfilm speakers were made so they could be mounted in a wall. Is that what you are doing mounting them in the wall or are the frames for the eyes?
