UPC1237 based units are mechanical relay contacts based speaker protection. Mechanical relay contacts can get damaged from high currents which arc when contact is broken or made. This can sometimes weld them stuck, or cause signal degradation. Mechanical relays also wear out and as they progressively wear, signal quality degrades and distortion can increase.
If you are ok with mechanical relays, you don’t need this unit which is a solid state MOSFET based relay with no moving parts to wear out or arc and degrade.

I read the whole thread, and I saw one or two questions about handling "high" rail voltages and the choice of MOSFET for that. Will the module be able to handle, say, +/-60V rails out of the box? Will we need to replace some zener or voltage-dropping resistor for such rails? I believe quite "normal" amps like the Rod Elliott P101 or the PeeCeeBee v4H take +/-40V AC which means about +/-56V DC, right?

Yes, the unit can technically handle voltages as high as 100v since we are using 100v rated MOSFETs and the input power is now regulated with a HV linear regulator, so +60v (from your +/-60v rails) will be fine to power it.

Installation is Easy Peasy!
I just installed the RTR SSR Protection board into my VHEX+ amp to see how difficult or easy the process would be.
Here is what I did:
1. Gather qnty 4 female insulated Faston spade crimp connectors
2. Find a single female PCB header pin socket and wire (the kind you get 100 of in an Arduino development kit) for the power connection.
3. Connect one end of the PCB header pin wire to the +ve rail of your amp terminal block.
4. Take wire cutters and cut the pair of speaker wires from your amp module's output to the binding posts output.
5. Take wire strippers and strip off about 1/4in of insulation from the 4 ends of the wires you just cut.
6. Crimp the 4 Faston connectors to the 4 wire ends.
7. Install the 4 Faston connectors to the RTR SSR board, being careful to observe polarity. The -ve amp output wire provides the ground for the single power supply pin.
8. Connect the PCB header pin from the +ve rail of the PSU to the +ve input pin on the RTR SSR board.
You are now ready to power up and use it. I tested it and the characteristic turn on thump is now eliminated thanks to the 3 second delay. Once the LED lights up, music plays.
This unit is so small and lightweight, you don't really need to even mount it to the amp chassis. It can float in space (take precautions to prevent inadvertant shorts) with protective insulation tape etc. It is essentially like a large piece of quad male-to-male Faston connector. As you can see in the photo, the wires themselves support it in free space. I would advise mounting it properly for safety. Of course, you can use the Molex Minifit Jr connectors (stright or 90 deg bend), or you can solder direct as flying leads using the supplied pads.
The whole process took 5 minutes and it was all very straightforward and easy. If you can attach 4 crimped Fastons, you can install this unit and be up and running in 10 minutes for two of them.
Sound is great - like nothing there. In fact, measurements show it actually reduces distortion at high power! Actually, it is quite curious how this THD reduction mechanism works. I took a few more data points at higher power up to 56Wrms into 8ohms and see that the trend continues with a difference of 0.013% THD vs 0.017% THD. I think Tomchr said he suspected it had something to do with the slight amount of capacitance that it modifies.
