Quattrofish,
Good to know that you are enjoying the speakers 🙂.
At what level did you set the XO and what sort of filter?

Hi Dave et al,
Thanks for the port to vent change info and got it.
I'm building the vented version shown in my corrected link of yesterday's second post by me....the one that has a suggested passive xover w cap/ind second order hi pass and single ind first order low pass.
Depending on how they go, I may get inspired and build a second set of cabs that are essentially the bottom half of the two way. These will host just the 12pw's so that I may flip them upside down and set on top of the two-ways to make a two piece MTM.
If this happens I'll use a line level crossover with two amps so I don't need to buy another different expensive inductor that a paralleled lower impedance 12pw load (or a series'd hi impedance load) would call for.
Regards,
Mario

Takes me to post #142, which i’m guessing is not where you intended?

from post 51 in this thread:
Alpair 7P & Alpair 12PW combination.
sorry for confusion and possible hijacking....all this should have been posted in the above thread...but just looking to change the port to a vent...

Public Service Announcement: Pay attention to phase.
In trying out different amplification I discovered that my right-side 12pw was wired out of phase.
Yes. It as been that way from the beginning.
Yes. I am a moron.
The sound, both measured and by ear, improved dramatically. Is anyone surprised?😱

Quattrofish,
As mp9 has already mentioned, you're not the only one...
At least you got it identified and corrected! Now you can enjoy them in their full glory! 🙂

With information on your current filters, driver datasheets and level differences, it should be possible to make an equivalent circuit for you.Quattrofish said:I do wish I had the skill to develop a passive, speaker-level XO for them.
2 (4Ω) or 4 (8Ω) A12pw have the appropriate sensitivity for the A7, a passive for 1 would require some attenuation of the midTweeter.

Thanks, Allen and Dave
I'd certainly be interested in exploring the idea. PLLXO are great, but it makes trying other amps much more complicated.
I might also give the big MTMs a try, which I know have a passive crossover already developed. I sent an email to you about them Dave, but maybe to the wrong address?

Nelson’s B4 variant (at least boards & critical parts) are now available at the diyAudio store.

Looks nice! Where do You find the Drawings for those? I can´t find them at Planet 10 homepage.

Can anyone tell me if the new Alpair 7MS, which replaces the 7E, is usable in these MTMs?
thanks,
Matt

Yes. Any 3 or 4” FR can be used as a midTweeter if you are biamping. A7x, P7x, A6.2x, A5.2/3, CHN-50, FF85wk, FF105wk. Drivers i have not heard.
The passive XO is specifically A7.3 so it likely would need tweaking if you wanted to go that route.
A7ms should be stellar in these.
