Replying/Quoting problems

Does anyone have problems with replying to posts and quoting them?
For most posts, if I hit "REPLY" button, the body of the message is blank.

Only in 1 in 10 cases, the previous post would be quoted in the web form.
It's been like this for a week or two...
It seems to depend on the content of the quoted post.

I'm using Firefox browser.

I see now the anouncement made July 20th regarding this behavior.
While I do not agree with the idea, I understand the problem..

It's the way we wish the forum to be, its as simple as that 🙂 and it is also in the rules as a 'guideline'

If you are replying to the post immediately above you shouldn't really be quoting it... and this is something we have seen a lot of, and particularly with long posts and posts with embedded images.

So you get a massive quote and then a reply that may just be a couple of words. So we made it less of an automatic choice to do that 🙂

Clutter. It's about visual clutter. This forum is clean and easy to follow due to much work on the part of the moderators. The recent user interface tweak is to make better behavior the default action.

You still can it's just not the obvious default action anymore

The
tags used to quote Mooly's post are in the quick reply box. If you spend a minute looking, all tools required for users are available.

Quoting a post immediately above yours is considered poor form (because it forces people to read things twice), unless you want to reply to say one specific point in that post. Copy-pasting the text and wrapping quote tags around it is still possible.

No.

No doubt helping the forum achieve much higher levels of awesomeness! Since mods will actually have time to do other stuff than tidying up the unnecessary bits.
Quoting the post above in full just to add the equivalent of:
Is a complete waste of space.

I just think there should be a choice within the forum software with a default to reply
And I think the new function is awesome, soon everyone will get used to it being a standard, then we're all happy. 🙂

One bad habit that clutters posts is posting very large embedded images which require screen resolutions fit for a graphics workstation. Not everyone is a gamer or a graphics designer with extremely powerful GPUs and very large screens.

Large images can use thumbnails to allow those with lower screen resolutions comfortably read posts.

Yeah, it took me awhile to find it and use it. Sure is handy. There was another button to the right of Multi-Quote that we got rid of. No one ever seemed to use it. Don't even remember what it was. :xeye"
