Default Many Thx Micas...will breadboard this...

Hey Micos.
Many Thx...I am going to breadboard this and give it a try...The one I ended up using works perfectly (schem.previously posted) for security...It is either Off or On...No graduation.
All the ones I tried using CMOS chips constantly needed tuning...CONSTANTLY!
From what I have seen on the podcasts...this circuit seems pretty sweet!

Thanks again.

You can get an analog voltage output proportional to distance from the Sharp GP2D12 IR range finder. Detection range is 10-80 cm. It costs about $15. You need an IR reflective target.
