Adhering wool felt

What have people been using to adhere 1/2" wool felt to speaker interior panels? I used double sided carpet tape for the last build, seemed to work but I'm always open to other suggestions

Spray adhesive works well especially 3M products. If you are concerned about potential delamination over time, add a layer of cheesecloth (or old pillow case/bed sheet) over it and a small number of short screws with large washers.

Thanks. Reading up on this stuff looks like I need to use it outside. I'm building the speakers in the basement workshop....

There's zero set up time with most of these. Just spray one panel while holding your breath, place the insulation and walk away for a minute or so.

Repeat as necessary.

Unless you are around others of course, then do as they say on the label.

I've started using cloth backed wool felt.
Very nice to stick to panels using contact adhesive.
No chance of delamination.

If we couldn’t friction fit it we used hot glue.

Ditto the 3M spray. I have also used staples. Long samples don't compress it much, and you need many anyway.

I once made a sub woofer isolation floor base consisting layers of wood, carpet, cork and rubber. Cheapest glue for bonding these materials was Liquid Nails. Haven't tried it on wool batts.

I'm very cautious of off gassing adhesives in sealed boxes behind my precious drivers.

I just use a PVA like Aquadhere by laying down strips and cross hatches of the PVA. Works a treat on felt and bonds well.

DOUBLE SIDED CARPET TAPE

Thanks all for the useful options. I found an industrial strength double sided carpet tape on Amazon. See the pics. Just roll it on, cut & burnish through over the waxed paper cover, remove the paper, set the wool in place, lay a heavy book over the wool for a short time and remove. The wool is very secure. I purchased 1/2"x12"x72" wool from McaMaster Carr for $49.00 & change US. They have different sizes available and cost options depending in wool content, 75%-95% wool content w/ balance of artificial. The 95% is a gray color, the 75" is an almost black color. The density is greater in the 75% but both allow the same amount of air to pass through. You will go through a lot of razor blades cutting through the wool for the baffles so be prepared, It does cut a good straight line though. Circles are a study in patience. now it's just finding the time to put it all together.
