For Immediate Release! BAF'19 Press Release
2019 Burning Amp Festival, Premier DIY Audio Event, Returns to San Francisco Nov. 9 & 10
Immersive Experience for Do-It-Yourself Audiophiles Draws Worldwide Attendees
San Francisco, CA Nov. 9, 2019 — The 12th annual Burning Amp Festival 2019 will be held Saturday, November 9 (Workshop Day), and Sunday, November 10 (Main Event) at the Firehouse and Building C of the historic Fort Mason Center on the San Francisco waterfront.
Burning Amp is a yearly participatory event for Do-It-Yourself (DIY) audiophiles to show off their projects, learn, network, and share their passion for experimenting with DIY audio gear. Founded in 2007, Burning Amp is an all-volunteer, non-profit audio happening attended by enthusiasts worldwide.
The Saturday Workshop Day (pre-registration required) will include an Amplifier Build Workshop and a Measurement Workshop.
In the Amplifier Build Workshop participants will assemble a preamp/headphone amp, an all- new design from long term patron Nelson Pass.
The Measurement Workshop, led by Bob Cordell and Demian Martin, will explore measurements of both amplifiers and loudspeakers.
The Sunday main event offers amateur DIY audio projects on display and for audition. Burning Amp’s keynote speakers are always standing-room-only (subject to Fire Dept. regulations) events. This year’s speakers are: Sean Casey, founder of Zu Audio, and Nelson Pass, audio industry legend and DIY icon.
Sunday morning’s Shorter Takes session has three amplifier designers presenting, and is also the day Burning Amp participants display and audition their DIY projects.
Hours are: Saturday by Pre-Registration only; Sunday 9 a.m. to 8 PM. A catered Indian buffet lunch will be available on Sunday. Coffee and snacks will be provided both days. Admission is $30, and $20 for those bringing their own DIY audio projects.
All are encouraged to attend and to become part of our DIY community. Bring your project, whether a breadboard prototype or a completed example of audio art.

Wow, how tempting is that? And now that I've got reading glasses I might actually be able to solder things properly.
So where do I pre register?
Watch this space. I am planning to open the registrations on Noon, Pacific Daylight Time, Sunday the 29th of September.
Pricing and the ordering link will be available before then.
-Tom-
And taught by real experts, Bob Cordell And Demian Martin! So great they are taking this on.
The measurement workshop sounds awesome. I'll keep an eye out for registration!
Back Again-Linear Systems BAF2019
Linear Integrated Systems (Linear Systems) will be attending and filming.
This year LIS will be bringing data sheets, application notes and samples. We will having hourly drawing for our sample boxes which include 12 different parts.
LIS plans to be filming both Saturday and Sunday. Saturday will include the demonstrations by Bob and Demian. After the demonstrations with time permitting, Bob and Demian will offer to measure amplifiers or speakers brought by the attendees, so bring your stuff. We plan to film and photograph the Preamplifier/Headphone Amplifier Workshop. Time available I might attempt to build one to prove or disprove the myth that sales people cannot solder
On Sunday, LIS will also be filming the speakers as well the walk around video where we interview the different people and get to describe what they brought. This year we are doing things a little better, with the cooperation of you folks.
Filming Requirements for 2019
1>Time: 8:30am-10:00 (we used to wait after the speaker, and we missed people)
2>Company or person information will be included during the filming.
We will hand out forms at 8:30am that need to filled out and ready when
we come by.
3>We will attempt to limit the discussions to 3-5 minutes.
4>Recording sound: We will attempt to be as quick as possible. During the
filming if folks would not blast their equipment while we
are talking to another individual, it will make for a
better recording.
5>LIS Inside: If your product includes LIS devices, there will be a section on
the form to fill out to identify which part(s)
We are looking forward to seeing everyone and hear some excellent systems!
Sincerely,
Paul Norton

Thank you Tom,
If we are lucky enough to register for the build workshop do we need to bring soldering gear: iron, flux, solder, tweezers etc?
And would you know if the Indian meals might be suitable for someone (me) with a gluten intolerance?
Safeways is nearby so it should be easy for me to self cater if required.
And I'll be nearby Friday arvo' and Saturday AM if you need a hand with anything.

I am putting together an order for 16 sets of soldering irons and related tools. So no you don't need to bring your own tools and supplies although you are welcome to of course. The Indian meal has a number of popular dishes. I am sure many of them would be suitable for the gluten intolerant, but you would have to ask.

There should be. Just stay away from the nan and any deep fried options.
Thank you Tom,

Burning Amp with matching burning curry? Sounds like an ideal combo. The perfect trio would be to add a Kingfisher lager (or 2, 3, ...) to provide some cooling..
