It was stable with Q302 out and was not in protect and relay stayed on. Will have to leave it for now as busy weekend ahead. May not get back to it until at least Sunday or early next week.

I suspect C302 as there was some corrosion on the legs but the amp is probably appraoching 40 years of age.

Really happy we made progress. I could not have got even this far without you as I really don't know what I am doing most of the time trying to repair electronics but love doing it!

How does SEA808 compare to the SUV4x. I have got 4 of those but not listened to them for a while?

Sweet as...

So yeah we just got to get the voltage balance back..

The V4X has more aplomb... and lost count how many I have now...

My last purchase was a silver V4X that never was used.... just sat in a box since 84 - a super rare version with green new class A decal

Hi. Things have got worse. Changed caps C302 and C304/3 but rated at 16v and not 6.3v (error on service manual compared to caps on board with Q302 back in. Voltages high again (45v) and relay off. Testing "One side connected to D301 and other side to C302" but now everything reading in mv.

DC at speaker terminals 5.5mv and power light on. Strange.

OK back to where we were with around 45 v all round. Earth wire had broken off going to one of the external power sockets. Soldered it back on. It is an awkward unit to work on as back does not come off. You have to slide circuit board out at an angle with stress on some of the wires.

Relay off

C302 at -4.15v and 0v to ground
D301 at -17.23 v and 56mv to ground
R305 at -4.15v and -17.22v to ground

Does C304/3 rated at 16v and not 6.3v matter? Error on service manual which says 16v but removed cap was 6.3v.

Not had time to compare anything with good amp.
