HIP4080 Based amp trouble

Hello,

i have a Carpower Wanted 1/800D.
Some output fets are broken, so i removed all, and installed a new Hip. Applyed power without output fets inside.

Measured the Pins on the Hip, Pin 3 is low, on Pin 5, its start to build a square wave, and then after a few seconds its only 0V.


If i measure on the Gate Pads, there is no square wave at all, strange is, that on some pads i have 12V, on other 6V and on the other 0V.
Injected a 100Hz signal.

Post a photo. It sounds like you need local feedback on the op-amp that feeds the 4080 but I'm not familiar with this amp.

Do you have a triangle waveform on pin 6 of the 4080?

Ok, with higher Input i have good Signal on the Gate pads. But on one side i have DC. See Picture
Its the same amp like Phoenix Gold 15.1

Recheck with the black probe on the source leg of the FET with DC. Only do this if this is a battery powered scope with no connection to the mains.

ok, maybe its my mistake, or i have somewhere a broken connection. If i change the black and red probe, then the signal everywhere is ok.

Installed the mosfets, and it works...will see how long..

Hello Achim, i have recently successfully repaired a HIP4080 based amp lately, i still have the amp in my posession, let me know if you need any help, given that ima dummy, the only help i really needed was that the only output fet that works is the IRF3710Z, the "Z" is critical.

I think it shouldtn look like this. Changed the TVS and 1 Ohm resistors. ZD are ok with 6.3V

Are they in the correct order left to right?

Connect a load across the speaker terminals (assuming that the relay is closing).

Sorry, 18, 19, 20 Correct order.. Relais is engaging. But no mosfets inside

Does the signal look better with the load on the speaker terminals?

No, no change. Exactly the same

Found, that the tip 41c get hot. Changed with a new one, but still the same.

Are you sure? It should have dragged the high-side source ground.

The TIP is likely the 12v regulator for the 4080. Heating of regulators is normal. Clip a temporary heatsink on it if you think it's too hot.

What is it about the signals that you think is wrong?

If i compare them to your tutorial, they are different

That's because the FETs are not in the circuit if you're looking at the page with all of the waveforms.

Section 30 on the Basic Class D Troubleshooting page shows without the FETs but a solder jumper is in place.
