ZCA: simple and easy to build class A single MosFET amplifier

I currently use this amp as my living room setup. I sounds amazing!!! See pictures and schematics.
I use a laptop 24V power supply. Noise filtering is very important because of the single end setup ! But it works very well. (no noise or hum at all)
Idle current is around 800mA, so it means around 20W heat dissipated per channel.
I use a large heat sink with a 24V fan running at low speed. Case temp is around 30deg (without fan is goes to 65deg !! )

I'm really happy with this amp and I can only recommend it if you're looking for a low power amp, simple to build, and good sounding!
(and some extra heat in these winter times 🙂 )

High power resistors are not cheap.
There is a topology called SRPP, that you could use the same mosfet to create an active load. It is also a push pull so that you can just use half of the bias curent.

thats like an amp camp amp. or you could do the thing they did in the pass zen amplifier. i had a whole thread and even build oneon a proto board, but it made too much heat and i didnt have an big enough heatsink and it overheated so i took it down.
