ZAPPulse V4P PSU question for Lars

Hi,

Ordered the various bits and pieces for my ZAPPulse PWM amp project on the 16th and today (19th) they already arrived! Compare that to the transformer I ordered on the same day from RS components in Spain (a lot closer to me here in Portugal than Denmark) which hasn't arrived yet 🙄

Anyway, on the V4P power supply (wow - it's big 😱 ) I see connections for "Gate Drive" and an unpopulated section of the PCB in one corner labelled "Gate Drive Regulator" - what's that all about and do I need to know anything about it?

I only ask because in the pic on the LC Audio site of a ZAP Pulse module hooked up to the V4P the Gate Drive bit is connected. However, that ZAP Pulse module doesn't look anything like the one I have (2.2SE) - I don't think there's anywhere on mine to hook up the "Gate Drive".

All I need to do is just connect the GND and +ve and -ve power rails right?

Thanks,
Michael.

Thanks for all the helpful responses guys 😀

On reading the ZAPPulse 2.2 "cookbook" (which is currently only available in Danish but I can more or less read Danish) it appears that the gate driver stuff is just an optional hookup to reduce the idle power consumption of the ZAPPulse modules. It's driven from a voltage regulator on the V4P board.

On my V4P board the Gate Drive Regulator section of the PCB isn't even populated...so I guess I won't be using it then 😀

no need for the gatedriver

Hey ..

the zappulse 2.2 versions have a built on gatedriver circuit and just needs to be connected to V+ Gnd and V-

I have the 2.2 versions myself but havent taken the time to make the powersupply yet .. Lack of bigger Trans .... *LOL*

hope that helped you 😉
