If you deviate from Zaph's recommendations, you will need to experiment (and/or be prepared to be disappointed). I lack the experience to estimate the relative damping efficiency of chair padding (ex. 1-inch thick medium density polyurethane foam vs. Sonic Barrier).
I would recommend starting with a single 1 inch layer on the back bottom, and one side. Even if it sounds good to you, try at least three other configurations (ie 1.5 inch layer(s) on rear baffle, and 1 inch on one side and bottom, etc.). If you just go with the 1st arrangement, you may miss out on a significantly better sounding pattern. In my limited experience, damping on the rear baffle has the most noticeable effect, but experiment with different arrangements. If your super lucky, Zaph will poke his head in here and put you on the right path...

That's probably bad then...damnit, I wish the dampening came cheaper...sigh
looky here and looky here.
My parts for 10 ZBM4s should be arriving this week also, so I'm in the same boat with you.

Thanks, Brendan
Thanks, Brendan
because I searched for posts by samtny, and not posts containing ZBM4 crossover or the like. I knew what to look for 😀
Check out his posts for some nice pics, they look really good.
I'll post pics when I get started too - but looks like you're up first.

no fair

Update...Madisound ran out of the NT1 tweeters...will have to do with identically-sized Dayton tweeter for now.
Also, what about SCR caps? I picked these up for a bargain ($10 for all of them) so will they perform worse than Bennics or Solens? And one last Q, will these inductors work? Or will I have to order the 19ga ones? The local shop only had these values.

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.
