I found this ad on internet .. but for me it is not clear .... what will I get:
A board fully assemble
A board with only surface mout parts in place .. plus parts to finish
A bare board with parts
The other question is .. is this kind of D to A converter a top performance unit ?

I'm interested in this board but put off by the rather whimsical but unhelpful English in the product description.
- It's not clear what its power supply requirements are.
- There's mention of a sub-card that's not included - what does it do and how much is it?
- There's mention of a USB input but I don't see one on the board.
as mentioned in the link power requirements are following
9V - minimum 10W per each = 20W
12-15V - minimum 15W in total
your trany should be able to supply following 4 rails
0-9V (1A)
0-9V (1A)
0-15V (0.5A)
0-15V (0.5A)
regarding you point 2 and 3, board has standard I2S input consisting of MLCK, BLCK,LRCK,DATA and DSD pin so you can connect any input device capable of I2S such as USB > I2S module (amanero, xmos, etc.) , not part of the kit so you have to buy your own

Thanks. I assume I'd need to convert SP/DIF and TOSLINK to I2S also.
Can you tell me what "Fiber optic, coaxial, USB input signal through the encoder switch" means please?

no, you don't need to, spdif and toslink have their own input connectors installed already...
it means board contains Fiber and coax input already and you can switch between them with onboard controller...
all 3 inputs should be selectable through remote control

Thanks again. I'm guessing that one of these might provide a compatible USB to I2S capability:

Hard to tell though because there are no markings on the AK4497 DAC dual-chip decoder board.

I would choose amanero, and yes the link to shop you provided has free shipping to Australia
Unfortunately the boards WITH the 2 AK4497 chips advertised here
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/AK4...id=84e7db1a-5a01-423a-af75-d5a03c0a505b&tpp=1
and here
https://www.aliexpress.com/store/pr...e-control-With-AK4497/802369_32737818294.html
are no longer available. Boards without the AK4497 chips are available though and the chips themselves from DigiKey.
How feasible is it for the DIYer to solder the large surface-mount ICs to the already populated boards?
