Just posting this for fun and conversation. Looks like a CLCLC power supply with a film capacitor bypass?

Actually, you might be shocked what you can do with a few simple tools. A cheapy table saw and a non-ferrous blade works wonders on 1/4" aluminum plate.

This is light years beyond my philosophy of upcycling rawson chassis.
I'm exactly where you are too. There is little (courtesy in part to Peter Daniel) I can't build but the novelty has worn off a long time ago. If I find something really intriguing I'll break out the tools but for now I take great comfort in the DIY store chassis.Yup, thats where I’m at 👍🏻
Table saw, full size Delta drillpress, power hand tools and a messy garage!😂
But that CNC is Sexy!!

Cutting alu on a table saw, while not pleasant, its so much better than trying to do it with a jigsaw etc.
The other bit of kit that is a massive help is a metal brake, things are much easier to fit together if you have one, and more repeatable if you are making more than one chassis.

It is unpleasant but you can get perfectly straight edges that will fool most people. It's handy when you must have a specific size piece.Cutting alu on a table saw, while not pleasant,
I'm fortunate to have a local metal supplier that will rough cut into easily handled pieces and I do the finishing.

They have metal cutting blades too that make the job even easier. Just have to keep an eye on the arbor size.
